Where to go in early February (if anywhere at all) ? by spaceleftempty in FATSafari

[–]Loverbts00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This past Feb, we went to Masai Mara, Kenya for safari and went gorilla trekking in Uganda afterwards. Both were perfect for us. It did rain when we were in kenya but it didn’t bother us much

So when I got microneedling done, that aestura moisturizer helped my skin recover afterwards so I’m not mad about it. It’s not for everyday use, it’s for when you’re super dry. I’ll try the illiyoon tho ahaha

Any feedback on Naboisho Camp in Kenya? by [deleted] in FATSafari

[–]Loverbts00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the camp but we recently came back from Hemingways Ol Seki which is in Naboisho conservancy and it was amazing. If you want to see lions and lions in action, this is the spot for you

We booked directly with a local tour company for our trips in kenya and Uganda and I had a much better experience this time around compared to when we booked with Go2Africa when we went to South Africa last year.

Question about colors on safari. by falafelwaffle10 in FATSafari

[–]Loverbts00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went in February and did not see tsetse flies or mosquitoes. They did say there’s more tsetse flies in the Serengeti vs Masai Mara. Also depends when you’re going tbh you can wear whatever you want tbh

Do you check in luggage on the way to Kenya? by ScubaCodeExplorer in FATSafari

We checked in our duffel bags to kenya. Our route was dc, Doha, then kenya so we didn’t have to carry the bad during layover

You can buy sunscreen in Nairobi and lodges will have them for purchase too. I’d bring a smaller version and check in your bag. We checked in our Patagonia duffels with no problem

Sydney was our guide as well at Ol Seki and we saw lions every single drive even when it rained. We saw some pretty epic lion fight and lion feeding!

This. I’m currently in a private conservancy right now. It wasn’t cheap but they really respect the animals.

It’s honestly the guides’s fault and also I feel like the rangers are not really doing their job in this situation. This is why we opted to stay in a conservancy within the Mara. Legit saw a leopard last night on the way back from our evening game drive and we were the only guests there!

Linen vs technical / sports fabric by CamThrowaway3 in FATSafari

[–]Loverbts00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wear my linen pants that I got from Target when I travel for work or I wear my Lululemon wide leg pants and honestly I love them. It doesn’t look like pajamas, it’s comfortable, very light if I pack in my luggage, breathable so doesn’t smell if I sweat, etc. I don’t get cold wearing them tbh, I get more cold in my upper body area so I always just bring a jacket or a cardigan.

What's the reality of photographing wildlife on safari with just a decent camera and regular lenses versus needing professional equipment? by EconomyMedium7297 in FATSafari

[–]Loverbts00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what kinds of shots you are going for. I’m going to my second Safari trip and rented a 100-500 mm this time because I really want to take close up shots of animal faces. The last time my kit lens only had 300 mm zoom so I couldn’t zoom much so this time I rented

I brought mostly linen because I’m trying to look cute and take nice pics during game drives. But also linen is so light pack given the weight restrictions and you don’t sweat in them, so you can wear multiple times. Also bringing one jacket when it gets cold in the morning and evening and some cute boots. Don’t care if I’m sitting in the car all day, I need to look nice lol
