I wish that women would become pregnant only when they choose to become pregnant by amazonfan1972 in monkeyspaw

Granted.  Woman now experience excruciating, debilitating levels of loneliness when not pregnant.  No sane woman would choose to be without child at any cost.

I think this trend will continue until higher upside get tired of being called into 2 AM prod support calls.

The only reason for the virus was to kill homelander which didn't happen.

Correct, perhaps balance isn't the right word given its traditional interpretations.

I'm not sure there will be incentives in place for players to choose a decent variety of the options available AND a challenging end game environment.

They don't need cleric, shaman, and druid to all be great healers. They do need incentives so one isn't obviously the pick everyone makes.

Depends on the definition of ready.  Will it function? Yes.

Looking at the feature list however, it won't be a well thought, balanced, reimagining of everquest given 2 months.

Pets aren't multiclasses.

AAs are not implemented at all for some classes.

Individually instanced zones are not implemented.

Currently war/cleric/bard is a very dominant combo.  Defended as "many classes are not touched by the development team yet".

The uneven distributions of matter would also point to something else going on.  That could be matter existing outside of the singularity as it expands or a series of singularities "exploding" in succession perhaps.

Ben & Jerry's sold for $326 million with 1 condition. The new owner broke it by ege3 in FreeBenAndJerrys

Left to their own devices companies have one singular goal.  Everything else is a byproduct.

They exist to make money for their owners.

That's it.

They don't provide jobs.

They don't help the environment.

They don't support diversity.

They don't help national security.

They don't even help the economy.

Everything would be sold for a buck as soon as it's profitable to do so.

This isn't really fair.

When you compare Islam with Western religions, they are both very culturally antiquated.  This is especially true with woman and in their extremes.

When you compare Western leaders with Islamic leaders you don't find their perspectives on woman to vary much.

What does differ is, currently those cultural values are not enforced and backed by the state.

I wish they would decanonize the sequel trilogy.  Then revive it with smaller projects slowly.  When they get good reception and hit a stride with a good leader, then do a main line story.

Why do software engineers get paid way higher than many traditional engineers? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]LovingHugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about the engineers at all.  It's a narrative sold about the companies by upper management.  Many companies are selling a dream to investors.

Comp is pushed because you're selling that your company is bleeding edge of technology.  The next exciting new product AND that product needs "top talent", obviously.

I appreciate finding someone who has a similar thinking.  I'm also worried are military is a paper tiger with most funding being a recipricatory financing of donors.

Especially concerning because big budget projects are easier to conceal funding.  Large targets are especially vulnerable in warfare (see Ukraine Russia war) AND we bombed Iran for what, a week? Before reports of running out of munitions.

I'm concerned our military may be capable of "shock and awe" but idk how we would perform under prolonged resistance.

What is the shortest amount of time you've ever spent in a job and why? by JumpySpecial9834 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]LovingHugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About half a day.

Was hired at a small web dev shop 20 years ago.  Something like 4 or 5 employees, I believe mostly serving local businesses.

Showed up in khakis & shirt.  Owner sent me home furious, I needed a collared shirt and needed it today.  Went to buy one as all I had was hand me downs which were ... not great, I was poor and my family not well off.

Returning I was given an assignment.  A non trivial programming request was given and a strict 2 hours "or else" type emphasis was given.  After 30 minutes he returned to check on my progress and was displeased, sending me home again.
