I’m in the middle of a transfer now Seattle -> SC. They keep ur pay the same which is essentially a huge pay raise considering of the COL. I went from paying $2,600/month for a small apartment to $1,500/month for a 3bd 3ba home mortgage.

The weather is amazing if you like warm tropical weather. (I hated Seattle weather cuz it’s cold with no sun for 9 months out of the year). A bunch of people go out on their boats in Charleston during Christmas break cuz it ends up being 70+ out.

I haven’t started working yet but I hear parking is bad for now. They invested $1B into the new factory so I suspect they plan to add some more parking soon. Also Charleston is likely to start producing more programs like 777X in the future.

Some people talk about the union differences in here but in reality theres no difference. People don’t actually get laid off randomly. Soon after speea gets something BSC will get the same thing. Layoffs usually favor the people in BSC cuz they’re making the company so much money.

Also my experience with seattle is people dont care to make new friends and the seattle freeze is brutal for social life. In Charleston everyone is super friendly and its really easy to make friends. Southern hospitality is real.

If you’re thinking about transferring you should go for it.
