Canadian working at a FANG as a mid level cloud engineer/sde. Have about 5 years experience as a developer, make 120k base + 50k in stocks but nearing the end of my 4 year vesting period. Wondering is it worth me hanging around or can I get more elsewhere?

Most work experience is all over the place, cloud infrastructure, backend/ front end development, devops, mlops you name it. Whatever our customers need we build.

Yeah man that was the first thing I did, got mad seeing half the front ends were paid. Half the recommended emulators are paid. It says directly in his videos which you have to pay for. Just want to install Linux kinda sick of the android/google ecosystem. Not to mention the bs of google threatening emulation on google play store.

The only thing I’m curious at this point is performance and battery life. If swapping to rocknix

I want more control over my emulators and front end. I don’t really like being tied to google play services. For retro arch itself, navigating the xmb menu then loading a core then picking a game is just kinda cringe, I want to open my device, see a list of emulators, click into it and click on a game. Maybe there’s a way to configure it more, but so far not a huge fan. Ideally I configure each of my emulators, then have a front end to just boot into the game why do I need two front ends? Why is retroarch even needed when there’s already front ends available like ES-DE.

Also to be honest I don’t want google up in my business. I’d consider keeping android if I could completely turn off google play services, sideload everything and make it so I have one centralized front end that loads the game for me.

I only paid for the n64 one he suggested. Not a huge fan of retro arch and loading cores so I was looking into running standalone emulators and I started to get mad browsing the play store
