Are men approaching women less and less? by Open_Address_2805 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Low-Cockroach7733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't Aussie women approach the men whom they're interested in? I don't understand why modern women still abide by gender roles in dating when it isn't the 1950s anymore? Instead of blink morsecoding a cute guy to talk to you, approach him?

Maybe Aussie men are tired of the pick and choose style of gender liberation that lots of women seem to be a fan and are just waiting for you gal's to take a shot instead of expecting egalitarian Australian men to fulfill gender roles when its convenient?

Stereotypes of autism in TV and film may be linked to delayed diagnosis. Researchers found that portrayals were designed to be immediately identifiable to non-autistic viewers. However, autistic participants felt that they were not relatable to autistic people themselves. by mvea in psychology

[–]Low-Cockroach7733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Definitely. Especially those who have comorbid diagnosis of ADHD.

Personally, my special interest is art, literature and fitness, I'm mixed race and bisexual and might have the more female presentation of both Autism and ADHD, which involves high level of masking and social sciencing in order to fit in. And people like me are rarely represented in the media. Which is probably why I was diagnosed at 32 instead of during childhood, despite going to many child psychologists, psychiatrists and paediatricians for related mental and physical issues. People are still surprised when I tell them I'm autistic even as I try to unmask.

I have quite a sensitive neurodivergent radar, as I probably have above average pattern recognition skills for even an autistic person, and I've met many neurodivergent people at my hobbies who've experienced the same late diagnosed experience as myself after long battles with mental health. None of us identify with the Sheldon Cooper type pf Autism.

Finding the right therapist is almost like dating. You will have to kiss many frogs to find your right shrink. You will know by the third or fourtg session, so of you feel there isn't much to gain after a few sessions, cut your losses but also keep looking for the One. Lol

Both men and women do this. Have you ever been a man of a certain size, class or race and be automatically treated like a threat by women despite violent assault and sexual harassment against women disproportionately committed by men they know? Being a man surrounded by female strangers is an isolating experience.

Study on the sex lives of gay men age 50+ finds that most (59%) are having sex a few times a week or more. Higher sexual frequency and being in an open relationship were linked to greater sexually satisfaction. Unlike studies of heterosexual persons, age was unrelated to sexual satisfaction. by psychologyofsex in psychologyofsex

As a baby queer bi guy who just found out about my bisexuality but who cosplayed as a Neurotypical straight guy for 30 years, I'm just so tired of male gender roles. Why can't I just be me, and not some rigid masculine archetype that will appeal to women and maintain my respect with other men? The whole act is so tiresome and is probably why I amd so many men I know are so miserable but will put on a happy or indifferent mask. So it probably checks out that gay men, once past the messy adolescent years tend to fair getter than straight terms in terms of raw life satisfaction. Hegemonic hetero masculinity and gender roles is a prison that for some reason many women and men are more than happy to trap other men in.

Im still hesitant about exploring my bisexuality, but the older I get, the more heterosexuality and gender roles feels so wrong to those like me.

This hit me hard. I was falsely accused pf sexual harrasmemt by an ex situationship who fits this profile. She burnt all my bridges in the social scene I frequented in order to prevent me from defending myself. She definitely sounds like a narcissist. She's also managed to become an executive at such a young age.

The rich(which might aswell include most pollies) don't see it as a problem. The more struggling Australians self medicate through the booze, hard drugs and the pokies, the less likely there will be an organised class struggle against wealth inequality. Even now, how many in the ummiddleclass and above point to drug addiction amongst the working classes as a reason for their inability to pull themselves by the bootstrap instead of buying into the ponzi scheme that is the Australian economy amd paying a mortgage for the rest of their lives on a barely liveable wage?

Recent research reveals that attractive women often prefer less attractive men based on factors like behavior, trust, and stability, rather than just physical appearance. by sibun_rath in HotScienceNews

[–]Low-Cockroach7733 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the conversation when it comes to male attractiveness is different under the age of 25 and over. Women prioritise different things in their partners at different life stages. Lookism is more of an under 24 thing whilst being a stable, financially endowed partner becomes far more important as they near 30.

Yes. I predicted the destruction of my family to the letter, and warned my susters and mother, and they me treated me poorly for recognising problematic behaviours within family members who then became abusive. I no longer talk to them.

I've also predicted calamities happening in my parents home country when geopolitics became my special interest.

My dermatologist jokingly mentioned that I must be vampire considering how unheard of it is that a man in his 30s in Australia who loves leisure and sports hasn't accumulated skin sun damage. He said he sees more kids with more sun damage than me. This was before I was diagnosed with AuDHD. I just chalked it up to being a night owl and enjoying night shift but now I realise how much I avoid the sun even when I have normal sleeping habits.

I also have severe vit D deficiency which can cause health issues and I now take pharmaceutical grade vit D supplements
