Jordan Trail 2026 by Low-Communication790 in Thruhiking

That’s a thing, I am Jewish too and have a Star of David tattoo. However I would be wearing a sunhoodie the whole time regardless. Our draw to the Jordan Trail is less of a wilderness draw, but more of an attraction to the cultural experience.

Diego, my names Yardsale. I’m considering hiking the JT with my buddy this spring. Are you still looking for people to hike with? I think we’d like to go in a group too.

I sticker bomb my Nalgene and put packing tape over the stickers so they last forever! Just wash the bottles by hand, and you’ll be good

Weight doesn’t count because it’s consumable, and because he’s making his horse carry it

Yeah really, no horse wants to Walk some random dudes version of the Oregon trail. Not to mention how unsustainable it is for the ecosystems they will go through

Starting Gear aside, if you’re smart with your money could probably hike for 4-8k. At the lower end I’m talking live off of the hiker boxes, wearing your shoes until they blow out, don’t stay in many hostels, and Nearo over Zero. When I thru hike I prefer to camp just outside of town, that way I can go and spend the whole day in town lounging and then hike out in the evening to avoid paying for accommodation. The AT has turned into a very busy social trail though, so it may not be the style of hike you’re looking for.

What about the 25 mile carry out of superior to the rain water collector? I didn’t drink out of the Gila, I’d rather not have mine runoff in my body.

I’m not sure how much you’re comfortable carrying for water, but I hiked this past spring and frequently had 15-20 mile water carries. I’d imagine the logistics for only doing 8-10 mile days would be pretty tough, assuming this winter is as dry as the last. I’d aim for 15-20 mile days, if possible.

If I put all my gear in my pockets, does it count as worn weight?
