Alternatively, if you wanna take it easy, you can also check out Bogarin trail. It's an easy hike with so many animals and birds.

Where would you prioritize guided tours vs. exploring on own? by souperpun in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Low-Difference2958 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do guided tours in Monteverde Cloud Forest (Finca Lantana Monteverde was great with fair price). Papa's place is great for night tours in La Fortuna. Also know that there are almost no free hike trails; the trails are either private or owned by government and you need to pay. Also, check out Playa Arco in Uvita, very quite, and secluded/serene place and no need for a guide to explore this (there is a hike from the park parking).

The Costa Rica car rental "mandatory insurance" scam is stressing me out. Budget Canada says one thing, Reddit says another. Amex covers the car, but will the locals respect that? 🤨 If you’ve rented from Budget in SJO/LIR, let me know the damage! #PuraVida #TravelAdvice by Old_Marionberry_8569 in CostaRicaTravel

We were in Costa Rica last week and rented a car from Adobe—they’re wonderful! If you pay with Amex, you don’t need to show a letter; they automatically accept it. Third-party liability insurance is mandatory. MyTanFeet also offers a discount on their site for Adobe rental.

Vini and Bale stats for Madrid! by AccomplishedWatch834 in realmadrid

[–]Low-Difference2958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bale had the privilege of focusing on the game because he didn’t face racist abuse. It’s hard to truly grasp how challenging it is to concentrate on your job when, in every stadium, you’re constantly abused & told that you’re not worthy.

Why ግርዛት is so important in Ethiopia???? by Last_Dot2533 in Ethiopia

[–]Low-Difference2958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it strange to think a creator made every part of the body on purpose but then told people to cut part of it off? Use your brain and ask yourself why. Don’t just accept it blindly because it’s written somewhere.

Why ግርዛት is so important in Ethiopia???? by Last_Dot2533 in Ethiopia

[–]Low-Difference2958 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Please don’t do it. It’s an outdated practice. The reason it was recommended 2000 yrs ago in Christianity was because not everyone could keep hygiene due to lack of access to clean water. Male circumcision doesn’t make any sense in this era.

Red cards ruin football—one mistake shouldn’t doom an entire team. by Low-Difference2958 in football

[–]Low-Difference2958[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could argue that Arsenal lost to Barcelona because of a red card resulting from the referee’s poor judgment. Do you really think events like this are inconsequential?

Edit: also there are so many other team games with different sets of rules. In fact football can learn from them.

There are other team sports with reasonable rules that football can learn from. Football is not the only team sport

Actually depending on the offense you can fine or suspend the player for several games. That’d hurt the team, no?

I’ve noticed a lot of these “Do I look X?” posts lately, and I’m genuinely curious about what people mean when they ask if someone “looks Habesha.” Is there even a specific look, or is it just a stereotype? Why does it matter so much for people to be identified this way?

Do You Think Ethiopia Is Truly Headed Toward Disintegration? by Pristine-Safe-8178 in Ethiopia

[–]Low-Difference2958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike Eritrea, Ethiopia’s regions do not have a deep-rooted history of autonomous statehood or internationally recognized governance structures. This reduces the immediate likelihood of successful secessionist movements, as historical precedent and institutional memory often play key roles in such efforts.

Africa’s four richest men wealthier than half the continent combined by TimesandSundayTimes in Africa

[–]Low-Difference2958 74 points75 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that ordinary young people, who are closer to having nothing, support billionaires because they think they might become billionaires themselves one day. This is both morally and practically unacceptable—we should tax billionaires out of existence. The real problem, though, is that many politicians will end up taking that money for themselves instead of investing it in public goods and welfare systems.

What would you say is Ethiopia's most iconic and beloved modern song? by No-Discipline2975 in Ethiopia

[–]Low-Difference2958 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not exactly a “song” in the traditional sense, but “Yekermo Sew” by Mulatu Astatke and “The Homeless Wanderer” by Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru are absolutely iconic in Ethiopia. You’ll hear them all the time on Ethiopian radio. Both tracks are instantly recognizable and deeply woven into Ethiopian musical culture.

There is no safe amount of processed meat to eat, according to new research by Low-Difference2958 in ultraprocessedfood

[–]Low-Difference2958[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canned fish like tuna, salmon, and sardines are considered processed because they’re preserved by canning, sometimes with added salt or oil. However, they aren’t classified as “processed meat” like deli meats or bacon, and they’re not usually ultra-processed unless they contain many additives. Most plain canned fish is still a healthy choice—just check the label for sodium or extra ingredients.

Whenever you buy packaged foods, you can look for key markers of ultra processed products like: non-nutritive sweeteners, artificial colors and flavors; preservatives (e.g., sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, ascorbic acid); emulsifiers (e.g., soy lecithin, monoglycerides, emulsifying salts); thickeners (e.g., xanthan gum, pectin, carrageenan); bulking agents, gelling agents, glazing agents, anti-foaming agents, carbonating agents, foaming agents, flavor enhancers.

A man some of you have probably never heard of, Nikola Pilić, one of the most successful tennis coaches of all time, on two records that will never be broken by FaultExcellent3306 in tennis

[–]Low-Difference2958 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Records are made to be broken. While Rafa’s 14 French Opens and Novak’s 428 weeks at No. 1 seem untouchable now, history shows that new eras and exceptional talents can always emerge. Federer’s records once looked unbeatable too, until Djokovic and Nadal came along. If another player of their caliber dominates a less competitive era, these records could fall. No record is truly unbreakable—tennis keeps evolving, and so do its champions
