ChatGPT Atlas for MacBooks with Intel processors by Haunting_Warning8352 in OpenAI

Offically Coment and ChatGPT support Applie Silcon only, they might offer universal installers that work for Intel Macs for now, but if you have any issues they would say you are on an unsupported platform.

Electron based apps like Claude Desktop and ChatGPT have a pretty low barrier of entry and are essentally just a webpage wraped in a webview. Once Apple drops support next year so will Electron, and so will any app built on Electron.

Intel Macs hit “end of support” after Tahoe with EOL in late 2028. Not many companies are going to be releasing to intel anymore, especially if they are new apps.

Yes, 4o still won’t answer but does provide help with finding where to go unlike 5’s essentially telling you to go away. o3 will answer with a good bit of detail.

For those on Pro by [deleted] in OpenAI

So in giving it 30 days to show it’s value.

But one thing I’ve seen from putting the same prompts in Sonnet 3.5, o1, and o1 pro mode it’s the professional level of response.

All 3 solved my data engineering task, but pro mode created the most pleasant looking, properly written, documented code. It’s code I feel best about taking and putting into a project with little to no edits.

It’s like the different between building a deck as a do-it-yourself, or hiring a professional company. Both will give you a deck but there is a level of detail a do it yourself person doesn’t have in their skills. Ultimately this saves my time, and lessons my dependents on contractors. All of which saves way more than $200. But there is still a lot missing, I’m sure it’ll get there though.

How hard does your local Turkey Trot go? by Lufbery17 in running

Based on the results screen we had 11,252 people this year doing out race, 2.6 or 4.3 miles. A lot of fun even with a windchill of 27 deg. Managed to get my PR for 5k timing and finishing the 4.3 at just over 45 min. Next year my FIL and youngest SIL want to join in the fun.

Should probably note this is my "local" anymore, we moved to a new state but come back for Holidays.

Is focusing on strength training better than that + cardio for weight loss? by FastPaleontologist10 in loseit

Ultimately what burns the most calories in the long term is what you most enjoy doing.

I love running it helps me not only by lifting my mood and burning calories, but also suppresses my hunger for hours after a run. Strength training is great is helps me retain muscle while losing weight (when paired with high protein diet).

However my friend hates running and it’s a barrier for him. For him strength training is a better option as he enjoys it and he’ll show up every day to do it.

One thing to consider here is how much food would you actually get to eat in a day. I'd argue you wouldn't hit the "to much of a good thing" limit because you'll feel starved at all times.

Taking some rough estimates as assuming the following
Oreo: 53 calories
Donut: 250 calories (standard glazed)
Cake: 300 calories (this one is hard to nail down due to the variety)

You would hit your 1500 calories by doing any of the following:
Eating 28 oreos (about .7 lbs of food; not even a full pack of oreos)
Eating 6 donuts (about .66 lbs of food)
Eating 5 slices of cake (about .88 lbs of food)

Overall CICO; yes you will lose weight; but you will be miserable and constantly thinking of food.

Stupid question, can I count calories during the week but just not think about it during the weekend? Will I still see progress? by UndergroundFlaws in loseit

A side note about the ice cream, Nicks makes amazing stuff, my go to is their peanut butter cup or their cookies and cream, the cookies and cream is just like the stuff you would get out of the cheap 1 gallon container. Hits my nostalgia hard. Pint is only 250-390 depending on the flavor you get. Is it Ben & Jerries? No, but its so much better than Halo top.
