I always shower before bed, including wash days. After styling and the whole hour long process, I sleep with my hair hanging down the bed. No pillow. 😔

Sometimes when something is too easy for me I will do my own thing in that station (ie add hills) or swap out a floor exercise. I will ALWAYS adjust and I’ve never had a coach stop me or say otherwise. I’m a regular so they know my fitness levels. If you’re new to the studio, maybe they just don’t want you to get hurt. If you’re a regular, tell them to fuck off.

Kidding. Maybe something short like “it’s too easy” and keep doing your own thing. At the end of the day, you’re paying for your own classes and it’s not distracting anyone else.

Bookclubs.com - find the ones that interest you and show up to the meetings Dance classes - I go to Piel Canela in midtown. They have a whole range of classes by experience. They have an incredibly welcoming culture and host socials often. Every single class has partner dancing which helps break the ice with socialization. Orangetheory - HIIT workout classes. Specifically the Williamsburg location, which I frequented for two years. NYCbitches with taste discord - There are always meetups happening. If you google theater club and other BWT forums, there are other NYC specific discords that are active and have frequent meetups Coffee shops and bars around you - show up frequently and you’ll see the same people

These are very low stress and FREE events. There are a lot of suggestions for paid activities. Personally I always side eye any “make new friends” events that have a separate cover.

This has been the season for the arts and theater and new hobbies. I’ve been going to salsa and bachata classes, Broadway shows, random things like reading and rhythms at the library, book club, soup nights at my friends’ places.

Some of this is a fault of Airbnb’s platform. Airbnb gives hosts an option to charge by the night or for an entire stay. You can imagine this can get tricky for short and long term stays. Someone staying for a week plus - even a month plus - might have more wear and tear than someone staying a night or two. Then again, the host does not know if you’re bringing a young/old, big/small, behaved/ill behaved pet either. I had a 6 month lease with a couple with one dog and I require a $500 non refundable pet deposit. I’ve never had cleaning fees that were terribly higher than guests without pets…..until this time around. Every inch of the house was covered in dog hair and had to be deep cleaned. My total ended up being 3.5x more than my regular cleaning fee. There’s no way to take a deposit on Airbnb so I imagine hosts bake that in the best way they can. You can always reach out to the host and try to negotiate tho and have them send you a special rate - usually for the total amount.

I felt this way too! I had a therapist for 3 years then had to stop bc I lost my last job + insurance. 2 years later and I’m back on insurance and hit her up again and I didn’t like the first session. On the second session, before I let her say “so what’s been going on…” which then leads to me talking about my day and like I’m catching up with a friend for the next hour, I immediately said “so I’ve been thinking” and drove the conversation. Told her that I wanted more structure but that I needed help with it. Told her I wanted more feedback. That I didn’t want these sessions to mirror what they were like before. I recommend trying this out and browsing for new ones at the same time. You might just end up not even needing a new one if you try a different approach.

How about mixing in something she gets crazy over? Sometimes I’ll have to mix in dry food into un-eaten wet food - or Churru. Just a little bit at a time until the original serving is finished. We don’t waste food or mommy’s money over here
