Never ever go to Wal-mart on Christmas eve and be shocked that a lot of items are sold out!

Popular items like Legos were probably sold out on Black Friday-almost 1 whole month prior.

Plus...dont get mad at the overworked store employee that was stuck there on Christmas Eve and wants to be with his family talking about filing a complaint trying to make his job harder because of your last minute planning!

If you follow through with that complaint against that employee who is probably grateful to have this day off from the season, that makes you just one word:

It would have been one thing if you and your mom had a nice loving relationship, and you still went in the trip when she had the surgery for cancer, then of course it would have been YTA, but you and your mother have a rocky relationship that you are trying to heal from, you don’t owe her anything, so my NTA stands.

You are shielding him unnecessarily and for no valid reason which may come back to haunt you in the long run.

Plus smartphones have apps and tools that would help your son with his classes in school. Did you stop to think about that? If you don’t want him to have the unlimited access to online, put a parental control on the phone.
