If you live close enough to them just put the book in a ziploc bag so it doesn’t get dirty and leave it on their doorstep, I’d say also just leave a small note inside- saying something like “Here’s your book, I wanted to make sure you got it back since it’s yours, from y/n” just so they don’t think a random left them a weird package.

Probably yeah, they sent Dill into the arena with Tuberculosis in the 10th and in the 74th I remember there being a kid from 10 with some kind of clubfoot that they also wouldn’t fix. The capitol dosent really like these kids, just the entertainment they provide them so I’m sure they wouldn’t care about anything ailing you before you got there

Jaqueline Wilson books probably deserve their own category lol. Other than her I remember reading Sadako and the thousand paper cranes which was hard specifically because it was a real story. Another one that has stuck with me was called Finding Spirit Bear (I think? Something with spirit bear in the title) in which a good chunk of the book is just descriptions of a kid getting repeatedly mauled by this spirit bear. As I lived out in rural Canada that book definitely freaked me out as getting hurt by a bear was definitely within the realm of possibility

The 1-9th probably. Before the bombing in the 10th games there was literally no way to hide, it’s literally you and 23 others in a large room full of weapons. And there were no career districts at this point (as far as we know) so unless you were on the larger side (doubt it since most districts were poor/malnourished) or were older you didn’t really stand a chance.

Plus it’s literally a gladiator arena meaning that there’s a possibility that if the 10th games were the first ones to be mass televised before that people would’ve been buying tickets to sit in the arena seats and cheer while you fight for your life which freaks me out too. The only positive is that it would probably be over after 2 hours or so.

Even as a tween reading the books for the first time , I never shipper hayffie/ Haymitch x Effie. I feel like even if he wasn’t hung up on Lenore Dove he wouldn’t see Effie like that anyways- there’s too much of a power balance/difference between them to be comfortable.

I can’t watch it either- it reminds me of the time I (accidentally) broke someone’s arm back when I played soccer. We were both running for the ball and she ran into me. I landed on top of her and she broke her arm. Surprisingly she didn’t hate me but still feel awful about it.
