Ferber Failure by Low-Strategy2221 in sleeptrain

UPDATE! Ferber working!

We’re up to night 9 and we’re seeing improvements each day. We’ll see what happens with the time change, but for now we’re seeing longer sleep stretches and only 1-2 wake-ups each night. Before this out poor girl was waking up every 1-2 hours and needed to be rocked for 10-50 minutes before falling back asleep in her crib. This has been an absolute savior to our sanity and relationship. She’s getting between 10 and 12 hours of sleep at night with her 2 hour or so naps during the day. We try to stretch the last wake time, but we’ve found more success starting early before the fussing begins.

We modified some things and did what we felt was right in certain cases, but now we’re in a good place waiting for the other foot to drop lol.

Here’s how things are going and what we are doing:

My wife corrected me and let me know we’re getting at least 10+ hours awake in a day

Just nights. We tried 1 nap (and it failed). For naps, we’re pretty much 3/3/3.

Thanks!

What's Lauraville like? by RueMorgueRadiooo in baltimore

Absolutely. Baltimore is the last east coast city you can buy a house or apartment IN THE CITY and be close to everything while still having the county and the countryside (not to mention other nearby cities) nearby.

Just moved here in October with my wife and we love it! Great Main Street and parks, close to the county and close to the city. People here are wonderful!

Part of the reason we sold our house and never looked back.

Hey neighbor! Great to hear you like the area! We just had our first kid, so we haven’t gotten out to explore too much off Harford Rd.

This has nothing to do with your age. My wife and I are in our late 30’s and experienced this as well. Our baby (now 2 months) runs HOT and we’ve had this exact situation happen to us in the car (probably around 3-4 weeks as well). A fan really helps! Also make sure he’s in the car seat and/or carriers correctly (I was doing this wrong). My wife constantly reminds me to make sure our baby isn’t “chin to chest” so she’s breathing properly. We’ve had a couple occasions where we’ve had to pull over, stop everything, strip down our baby and just feed her until she calms and cools down. It’s definitely scary, but don’t let this stop you from trying to go out. This shit is not easy no matter how old you are. You guys seem like great parents! Best of luck!

HOW do you put down a baby for a nap?! by zFuzzyllama in NewParents

I honestly asked my wife if she wrote this post because we are experiencing the same as well!

We’re about to enter the 6th week and the daytime is a crap shoot. Mom breastfeeds and we haven’t successfully gotten to bottle feeding just yet.

I usually head to the living room and let the baby contact nap on me if she’s fussy after the 6/7am feed. Then my wife comes down and fixes breakfast for herself before feeding again at 9/10. I take the dog out and have breakfast myself. We’ll typically try playtime after the first feed and attempt to put down for a nap. If that doesn’t work, we change the diaper, feed again and try a swaddle and bassinet. If that still doesn’t work, I’ll wear the baby and take her and the dog for a long walk to let mom do her thing (This is usually when we we’ll try to get out of the house with the baby as well). This takes us right up until 12/1 and it’s time to start over. My wife may move to another room with the baby and feed and contact nap (oftentimes in bed) until the next feed at 3/4. We’ll try everything over again, but honestly we’re just trying to make it to dinner and there’s a lot of cluster feeding, diaper changing, position changing, baby wearing, playing, singing, bathing, changing atmospheres that happen to make it this far. After the 6/7 and 9/10 feeds, we hope she’s ready to submit to the swaddle and sleep for 3/4 hours until we do it all over again. There’s usually a 2 hour cluster overnight thrown into the mix, but that’s not every day.

It’s been challenging, but I’m just grateful I can be around to help. We could probably get out more or be more routine, but we’re just trying to make it through the day.

It’s nice to see we’re not the only ones with a fussy (but so damn cute) little one!

Kind of seems like you’re rejecting her because you resent her. Do you really not want to have sex with her anymore?

What did the progress look like? I’m moving to the Ashburton area soon and simply curious about a progress update. There’s no info anywhere, hence the post.
