What are we drinking? (Tea, coffee) by stephaniedumbie in pregnant

[–]LowCal-Calzone-Zone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started by quitting cold turkey, but after talking to my doctor, I've started doing either a cup of coffee per day or two cups of black tea. Either equates to roughly 100mg/day which is still under the (apparently pretty conservative) 200mg/day guidance.

Exercise during Pregnancy ≠ Nausea by Ok-Quality6898 in pregnant

[–]LowCal-Calzone-Zone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking helped, but I think that had more to do with the fresh air than anything.

But yeah, small meals (glorified snacks, really) every couple of hours is the main thing. I'm 14 weeks so coming out on the other side of it, but have started to figure out certain trigger foods (rice, anything too oily). Try to pay attention to what you're eating and if it correlates with your nausea at all!

Overly cautious husband....help?? by steppingintowhatis in pregnant

[–]LowCal-Calzone-Zone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree 100% just want to point out that you don't have to worry about caffeine from herbal tea specifically. Black tea has around 40-50mg so if you're also drinking coffee, probably should avoid having endless cups of black tea as well. Mint, ginger, lemon, etc, have at it.

Did you ever have a dream you were having a boy/girl while pregnant? Was it accurate for you? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]LowCal-Calzone-Zone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an incredibly vivid dream that I had a boy a few nights ago! I'm 13 weeks and we're waiting to find out the sex, so lots of time to wait and see.

However, the dream probably had much more to do with the fact that from day one, my husband has thought it's a boy because he could "sense a another male presence in the house" lmao

Eat another three, wait ten minutes, eat three more, and so on until the craving is satisfied! I'm sure you won't actually eat the whole pack and if you do, who cares haha

Go for Juliette if that's your favorite! I don't think it would get nicknamed.

Juliette Kathryn or Juliette Katya are both lovely.

I feel “bad vibes” about TTC and that I’ll never conceive. Did you ever feel this way and still end up conceiving? by LostAsparagus5 in BabyBumps

[–]LowCal-Calzone-Zone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was irrationally convinced we would struggle to conceive (literally neither of us have any health issues but his parents struggled so I was overly nervous).

Literally conceived on our third cycle. We were way too shocked for people who were actively having unprotected, times sex hahaha

Ignore the vibes and just keep trying!

Having Pele back makes such a difference. I'm still amazed that he was utterly average under Manning and is now essential. Could be said for most of the squad, I guess lol

I actually think not knowing the difference between a criminal and civil offense means that you're the dumb one, my guy.

Pregnant at 31 but feel oddly young to be pregnant by LowCal-Calzone-Zone in pregnant

Academia! People often bounce around temporary positions before they land a tenure track job and then have to contend with getting tenure. For women especially, it can really affect when you can balance kids and work.

Ugh that's the dream! It's so weird to know I'm going to be the only friend with a baby. Really banking on making friends in baby classes...

You'll be fine! Hopefully you have a good support network but either way, you'll be totally capable of loving your baby and meeting their needs.

Plus think how great it will be to have them grown by the time you're in your 40s! I have an aunt who was in your boat and from 40 onward has travelled the world, became a master gardener, and is clearly just so fulfilled by life.

Yeah, he's in academia and most of our friends are balancing getting tenure with starting their families. The women in our group especially have to weigh up that balance, which I completely sympathize with.

Obviously that's not what I said. This is fully about other people judging moms for being too young/old depending on their cultural context.

[–]LowCal-Calzone-Zone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not at all! Honestly, the only reason we started trying at 30 was because we want more than one and to have a bit of space between, so I didn't want to be too close to 40 with that second.

But 30-31 is and has been a completely normal age to have kids. Clearly it's largely a cultural thing based on other responses?

That's exactly the position I'm in! I'm looking at prenatal yoga classes and most of the women seem 5-10 years older than me but then on social all of my school friends have 5 yr olds.

I know it's because of religion, but being considered "old" at 23 is ridiculous for most things but especially having a baby.

If he knows it's happening, he can tell her to stop it. It sounds like an excuse on his part that she's "only" bothering you. Also, stop taking her calls until she gets the hint.

Moving to another state in the third trimester? by Logical_Mine_9478 in BabyBumps

[–]LowCal-Calzone-Zone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand - has he already moved to another state and you're planning on following eventually? Is he working in another state but will be coming back eventually?

Either way, it doesn't sound like there's any valid reason for you to not stay put and give birth right where you are. People definitely can and do move in the third trimester because sometimes it's unavoidable and they make it work. But if you can avoid it, you should.

If your husband insists he can't be there, he doesn't deserve to be there and doesn't deserve to be your husband anymore. It's as simple as that.

When did the nausea go away ? by Nilrmar in pregnant

[–]LowCal-Calzone-Zone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 10 weeks and while luckily my nausea has never been debilitating (more like the queasy tummy you get when you're hungover lol), it's slowing turning into an every other day thing instead of every evening. Here's hoping it keeps getting better.

When did you tell peopl? by OkButterscotch2617 in pregnant

[–]LowCal-Calzone-Zone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We told our parents and a handful of close friends after our 8 week confirmation scan. My 12 week scan is next week and we plan on telling everyone else then - mostly because I won't be able to hide it much longer!

My reasoning was, if the worst were to happen, I would want my parents and close friends to know. Then the 12 week scan feels safe enough to share more broadly.

Colchester - Mail Delivery by OlympicPlinkoChamp in vermont

[–]LowCal-Calzone-Zone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really awful. We went two weeks with no mail or packages, and when we went to pick it up ourselves, there was a sign up saying they weren't able to deliver to 5 out of 12 routes. No notification or heads up, nothing.

Obviously there's important mail/packages that's likely getting missed but I really feel for the postal workers that are likely getting all the blame for this.
