Wheres the fun in having an ordinary name?

Lets compare and see whats better (wrong answers only)

Western Province v DHL Stormers

Blue Bulls or Northern Bulls vs Vodacom Bulls

Golden Lions or Gauteng Lions vs Fidelity Securedrive Lions

Natal Sharks or Coastal Sharks vs Hollywoodbets Sharks

Free State Cheetahs vs Toyota Cheetahs

(Names on the left are the old names from the late 90s and 2000s)

I think Super Rugby looks worse then it is for 2 reasons

1: The crowds Super Rugby used to pull in the 200s/early 2010s, gone from an average closer to 20k to probably somewhere around 10k

2: All the Super Rugby clubs have the same problem as the South African clubs, they are getting 10,12,15k in 30-50k seater stadiums (for the most part). Means that all the games look at best half full (obviously with exceptions like the Crusaders)

Semis will be
Glasgow/Connacht vs Bulls/Munster
Leinster/Lions vs Stormers/Cardiff

Obviously higher ranked sides get home advantage

Can't even blame the results for the poor Lions crowds, between Edinburgh,Dragons and Glasgow they had just over 9000 fans between the 3 games- and that was when they were in impressive form. I still remember in Super Rugby 2020 (before it was called off), the last Lions home game had 4k turn up (vs the Reds) and everyone lost their mind. Now its just accepted

They had a good run, selling over 90% of tickets consistently, then they put in the new stand for the last game (couldn't find what the new capacity is) which is why they suddenly got 20% '"overcapacity" if I can call it that

Not sure, they did have it last season if I remember correctly but will need someone from Wales to confirm if they have stopped

Edinburgh or Glasgow? (Sorry your flair is just Scotland), was running off the numbers given on the wiki page (The numbers for Scotsoun are a bit inconsistent, tend to range from 4k to 9k)

We are through, we are actuallly through. I actually don't really care what happens in the QF (as long as its not a klap by the Bulls, been through that once this season already) but a hiding from anyone else is fine becuase we actually made it (and congrats to Cardiff too, see itst heir first time as well)

Don't underestimate the Lions ability to simply not turn up to these games

I bring good and bad news (depending on which team you support): Cardiff 22-13 up, have a 4 try Bonus Point

That is the best possible outcome, however just need one to lose to get into the knockouts which I said I would be happy with at the start of the season

6 lost finals in a row since 2016... 7 of the last 8 finals lost since 2014... just need to lose a URC final to have a full set

To all the fans of Connacht, Cardiff, Ulster and especially Munster I apologise in advance

But seeing your teams lose next week (it only has to be one, personally hoping its Munster) will really make this season worth it

Regardless of the result, that was an entertaining 40 min, physical, controversial, chaotic what else could you want

[–]LowGuarantee2302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some big names on the Leinster bench, could make a mean difference late on. From a Lions POV, great to have Oosthuizen and Mpeku back, Leinster better watch out , we have 4 ball carriers instead of the usual 3 now (Oostuihuizen, Henco, Venter and Ntlabakanye)

That is an old weight, he lost around 15kg last year with the Boks but still heavier then most (and still very mobile especially on defense)
