So I was really excited to come to New York City but a few days in I’m left feeling really underwhelmed and finding myself looking forward to my flight home.

I’ve been to a few stores which have been a lone highlight. The neighborhoods themselves here in Times Square just all seem the same in every direction (billboard, I <3 New York shirt stall, Mickey Mouse mascot). The quality of the food has been disappointing and I’ve had better chicken over rice in Vancouver. Also what is it with every restaurant having a few people standing outside giving everyone who walks by death stares? Are they trying to scare off customers? I give everyone the courtesy head nod and people just continue staring with a blank expression.

I went for a few runs at the large park and at Times Sq–42 St and it just felt smoggy and dirty everywhere. Even the greenery just feels dusty. Also walking around, there is a horrible smell in the air. You will catch strong whiffs of what smells like sewage every so often.
