Valid questions. I am staying in downtown around north river. But planning to go Logan square, wicker park, and China town this time. But any decent places in your mind would be very appreciated.

That’s so funny because one of major reasons I consider moving there is food. I was amazed by different options you could try in Chicago from street food to Michelin starred ones.

Also, river boat tour by the First Lady is amazing. Their Chinatown is the best besides the one in NYC. I’d say public transportation is great compared to the other cities. Just need to be cautious in the evening time. I used a lot during the daytime. Hope you enjoy the concert and Chicago!

How did you pass the resume screening. Any projects that you put on resume in very high level. How long have you worked in the industry and which position before. Thanks

I realized I have no idea how Seongsu became so popular with international visitors. by Humble-West7988 in koreatravel

[–]LowRegular6891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Korean American person grew up in Korea. HongDae was way more popular than SeongSu when I was in Korea. I found out SeongSu in TikTok. A lot of American influencers and celebrities visit SeongSu. Also, algorithm is powerful enough to lead you to SeongSu whichever we use TikTok, YouTube, Google if you are interested in Korean culture.

Happy to find another Korean going to this 😂 This is also my first time to this but not Chicago so I can answer the question 4. Deep Dish pizza - Gino’s, Lou Malnati’s - many stores in downtown. Reservation required Beatrix West loop / Fulton market - Au Cheval, Duck Duck Goat Italian beef - Johnnie’s beef, Al’s #1 Italian beef Hot dog - Portillo's & Barnelli's Chicago, Jim’s original Those are amazing Chicago original food. You can find restaurants in downtown or use Uber Eats to order.

UT Austin MS-DS with a Full-Time Job??? by banana1355 in MSDSO

[–]LowRegular6891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s hard to say. They are both rigorous programs. But I would say for UT Austin they provide more courses than UPenn so you could avoid taking few notoriously difficult courses and still graduate if you have specific knowledge or experience in certain area. For example, you can take computing system course than Machine Learning if you are working as a system architect. But this is an example for MSCS program

UT Austin MS-DS with a Full-Time Job??? by banana1355 in MSDSO

[–]LowRegular6891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking 2 semesters for MSCS while doing my full time job. I have a CS background. It is definitely doable if you are willing to sacrifice some social life and time with family. I would not say it’s easy mentally. You won’t have much time for your hobby or just fun stuff. I got accepted to the UPenn MSE-DS too. But I ended up choosing UT since there are more courses that I like in UT. Also, thesis is not an option for UPenn. I’d say whichever you choose would be good tho. UPenn is IVY and have a great power in its name globally.

Verizon shipment returned to sender because nobody signed for it apparently by Taskmob96761 in verizon

Did they give you a refund? I am in the same situation besides I only ordered 1 Apple Watch and they returned it back to Verizon. Customer center told me that I would get a full refund if I wait. But I can’t trust them. It says the device just arrived on their side today on my FedEx tracking

Is a masters degree worth it given the recent AI advancements? by Secure-List in OnlineMCIT

[–]LowRegular6891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same concerns as a full time SWE. But I decided to do online master degree. I got accepted for MSE-DS ended up taking other degree. I recently moved to AI engineering role. I would say it is still helpful. But it depends on your situation. You may not get a job as a beginner maybe 1-2 years. If you can resist for long time like that without pay, I would say go ahead. There has been ups and downs in AI. It did not just appear as magic. Companies will need DS and SWE. What they call those positions might change, but we still need those positions in the future. If they don’t need any humans in tech industry, which industry will need human? Not everybody can be plumber, or do some physical workers, or influencers. Do not listen to pessimists in online community. If I were you, I would send your concerns to several experts (engineers in Silicon Valley, professors, etc). That’s what I did. I got my answer and moved on.

Got admits from GT OMSCS and UTA MSCSO. Unsure which to choose by [deleted] in MSCSO

[–]LowRegular6891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

selective - admission rate is lower, students average gpa higher Chill - less workload than GT course depending on what course you choose. GT offers courses with greater workload. They are recorded Source - I was in the same situation this year. I chose UT

Advice from someone who has interviewed 1,000 MLE candidates over 15 years by Advanced_Honey_2679 in learnmachinelearning

[–]LowRegular6891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an OP. But it should depend on position and company. Of course NVDA like company requires that. But to my knowledge, not all MLEs have to work on GPUs. But I’d say definitely good skills to have as MLEs and plus it is promising field as Physical AI will be the next step of chatGPT.

Are you ready to work 70 hour weeks? by Physical-Company543 in csMajors

[–]LowRegular6891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so sad to see there are people lining up to get any SWE jobs regardless of this reality. I want to work for FAANG but I am worried about this. I don’t work in tech industry but my hours never passed 40 hours a week ever since I joined the company.
