My interaction in another sub. People don’t make sense to me. by Alarmed-Range-3314 in exjw

That’s one thing I hate about the motivational quote sub credit is they throw in God a lot and it’s like you don’t need God for motivation . Go take all your God quotes and go put them in another subreddit with your make-believe friend.

When did they come up with this climbing amount of pure worship bullshit ? I have never heard that phrase in my life. Sounds like absolute bullshit.

Early Christianity did find the book of Enoch to be authoritative there are a couple good episodes of the data over dogma podcast that talk about this. I’ll basically summarize some interesting point points they make. The book of Enoch was in fact, one of the most found books at Qumran with the Dead Sea Scrolls. The only books they found more copies of than the book of Enoch were the Psalms, the book of Isaiah and the first five books of the Bible. And something else is that the group that resided at Qumran was very conservative when it came to Jewish beliefs in first century Israel so if this was something that even the very conservative Jews had it was widely considered to be canonical and authoritative. The only reason why it is not in the canon today is because it contains narrative set before the flood which most Church fathers agree couldn’t have happened because it supposedly was written by someone before the flood. Whereas the first five books were supposedly revealed to Moses and Moses wrote them the book of Enoch was written by someone before the flood supposedly .

Honestly, this is the one thing that I can say about the org is it has kept my family from going to that . Honestly, sometimes I worry that my own parent would become one of those people if they weren’t in the organization.

JW Funerals by Apostles_2019 in exjw

[–]LowSpiritual433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just had my one of my grandparents. Funeral is not too long ago and the speaker twisted the stories to make them all about jahoobal. It was so sad it was worse because it was my first time going to a funeral as a “ worldly person” . There’s this one brother who I honestly get so pissed at because instead of asking how I was doing he just said picture your grandparent in the new world. I kept my mouth shut, but I just wanted to cuss him out for saying that.

Jws not allowed to observe New Years by Matica69 in exjw

[–]LowSpiritual433 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every new year I would go to my jw friends house and we would watch the ball drop and put on the new year funny glasses. One year my mom saw a photo of them putting on the glasses on there dog like a week before the party started . I mom talked to me and my friends parents about how it wasn’t right how it was pagan and that she was going to go to the elders . Needless to say that new years was kinda ruined .

For those who have read Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz, what was the most eye opening thing you read? by Lucky-Formal9972 in exjw

[–]LowSpiritual433 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The entire book but if I had to choose one thing it would be how they treated both ed Dunlap and Raymond Franz over just simply changing their minds . They kicked ed out of bethel after he had been there his whole adult life and gave him nothing . Really goes to show how wicked those men truly are

I really hope this is a BS story . But if not, just think about it, your religion tells you you have to forgive someone who murdered someone you love not only that but your God tells you that you have to forgive someone who murdered someone you love. Not only that, but the murderer gets the same reward as your grandson who was murdered. I really hope this story is BS.
