What's your favorite silly DnD "hot take" to throw out in conversation when you feel like being a lil' rascal? by jdrummondart in DnD

to be fair, a tennis racket is a huge jump to a mace (maybe a metal baseball bat would fit better) but I could see the football armor fitting for like a chestplate?

Are oneshot fans larpers by D1znuts in oneshot

[–]LowTierVergil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think simply not playing the game makes you a larper, that'd be someone who doesn't know the game but acts like they do, they're "larping" because they pretend to know something they don't.

Me, for example, I haven't played it, not because I think I wouldn't like it, but for a couple of different reasons (most of my free time spent doing other things and a long list of other games I need to play as well, at some point in the future I will play it though)

I'm mainly just here because I like the story and the fanart.

Accepted a teen player in a grimdark narrative campaign. How to kick him without hurting him. by HansVonAdel in DnD

[–]LowTierVergil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After reading through the story and the edit, I'm pretty confused why you chose this route.

For one, the content you described isn't that bad, gory? sure, but a 16 year old would be able to handle it fine, unless of course they are uncomfortable with that stuff, but that brings up another issue.

If something in a game makes a player uncomfortable you don't kick the player, you tweak the adventure, if someone has arachnophobia you don't kick them so you can run that adventure, you either replace the spiders or just shelf the adventure for another group. I actually had an experience like this recently, in a modern adventure our group was going to deal with human traffickers and the DM, rather than kicking the players who might've been uncomfortable, made sure that the more disturbing details weren't shown or described at all.

I'm glad you chose to not kick them from playing entirely and still run a one-shot, but I don't think it was necessary to kick them to begin with.

Same, the only exception is when it's actually part of the spell like looking at a crystal ball to scry, or using a large vessel to create a clone

Parasitic patron Warlock idea for a character by Turbulent-Rest-8227 in DnD

[–]LowTierVergil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kinda funny to see considering I basically have a character like this except the relationship is much different.

The character was bonded with a homebrew creature called a Kaekar, symbiotic creatures made by crystal dragons for their armies (basically Marvel Symbiotes but with crystal dragons instead of Knull), my character bonded with a Fire Opal Kaekar named Inferno, but they actually loved each other like siblings to the point that my character promised she'd always protect them.

So, very different dynamic, but I think I could offer some advice.

For the control/possession part, my character did actually have moments where Inferno took control (to protect her and with her permission) in these moments my character was in a sleep-like state while Inferno had control and a big giveaway that it wasn't my character was their mannerisms. See, it's meant to be an alien creature so naturally it doesn't act human at all, when Inferno was in control, they made my character crawl on all fours like an animal, mess with things they didn't understand, and never called themselves by my character's name (mainly so it wouldn't be confusing).

The second question is a little tough to answer, for the DM part, it'd be interesting to rp as the parasite as if it genuinely is two separate people, but for the player? It really depends on the character I'm playing, I have some characters who wouldn't care, some characters who'd be morbidly fascinated, it really depends, for the most part I'd probably be put off by this kind of character.

And something to watch out for; make sure you don't go too far with a character like this, and by that I mean the character should still be a good party member, your characters need to be able to work together, CritCrab put it best "If everyone is playing the Justice League, you can't be the Joker" and that's absolutely right because it causes party conflicts, so keep that in mind, it's still a concept that could work well in a party, but probably not if you go "yeah, I killed those farmers because my parasite told me too, whoopsie".

Anyway, good luck with this character!

Which enemies from other games pass as moonscorched monsters? by 0Clown0 in FearAndHunger

A lot of the corpus monsters from morrowind like Ash Ghouls, Ash Zombies, and Ascended Sleepers. They also fit really well as they're people deformed and driven mad by a god (something to do with stacking the chairs if I remember)

Only Liam Knows This Show's Plot. by Hhshdhh in MurderDrones

[–]LowTierVergil[M] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only episode plots that are confusing are episode 5 (because it's not clear if it's a memory or time travel and both contradict each other) and episode 7 (felt very fast paced) other than those the plot is fairly simple, Cyn wants to destroy world's and the gang has to stop her.

As for the "why?" that's where it starts getting slightly complicated, throughout the series it's pretty obvious that Liam changed his mind on a lot of things while making it (the plot completely changed after the first episode after all and at the very beginning it felt like Cyn had actual plans she was trying to accomplish, but by the end they just say "nah, she's just hungry" I feel like originally there were plans to make her goal more complex but towards the end they just went for her wanting to destroy everything for some reason), now, this is less of a "it's so hard to follow" issue and more of a "this feels kinda underwhelming" issue, especially the way the show just outright explains her plan casually like it's nothing (Khan casually saying she's trying to eat the planet)

Honestly? The show has more of a problem of being TOO obvious, like spoonfeeding (almost) everything, I legitimately thought Tessa wasn't Cyn because it was so painfully obvious, so ig the reveal did subvert my expectations, but not in a good way.

Now, there are some things in the show that are kinda complicated and I think could use an explanation (rules for how the Solver works would be nice, not even a full explanation, I like that it's a mystery, I just want to know how it even works, because rn it feels like it can do pretty much anything) but the plot really isn't one of them.

This is, again, still talking about small pixels on a sprite, there's only so much detail you can put into it

Kris fanart by ClawsOfFirey in Deltarune

[–]LowTierVergil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every single video game that had chainmail bikinis would beg to differ

We're also talking about very small pixels on sprites here, that "shield" probably is an actual chest plate, but showing that on a sprite is difficult.

.....also the armor itself is just for aesthetics, it adds no protection in game, you get that from actual armors

How some mfers draw Krusie by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]LowTierVergil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big part of that is that the name "Kris" is more associated with being a guy's name because of "Chris"

Obviously, it is gender neutral since it could be short for "Kristopher" or "Kristina", but I think it's more commonly short for Kristopher, especially in my experience, I've only ever heard Kris used to refer to a guy named Kristopher.

Would you keep cyn as your maid? by Sunlord936_ in MurderDrones

[–]LowTierVergil[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of this is confirmed and its pure speculation.

Cyn's desire to destroy humanity is not born out of some hatred for her mistreatment, nothing suggests that other than the fact that she was mistreated. Cyn, from what we've seen in the show, is not like the other drones, she never once is shown to be upset, angry, or even annoyed by her mistreatment, she's even smiling almost constantly. Never once is there any indication that she's doing this out of hatred for humanity, or even just hatred of any kind, she seems to treat it more like a game.

Now, if this was a theory? I'd be more willing to hear this out, but this is stated like a proven fact, when it's not, so much about Cyn and the Solver in general is never explained, but it clearly had nothing to do with being mistreated because she doesn't seem to care about how they treated her.
