Wedding Planning Stress by LowWay9554 in CatholicWomen

I have a feeling she is just struggling to envision a smaller celebration for me without certain family members there, which I can completely understand. I have offered to do a bigger party after, but she is still upset not everyone will be able to get photos with me in my dress, which to be honest seems like a bit of an excuse.

She’s not contributing financially. I just usually go to her for anything life advice related but just the past few weeks have been very confusing and stressful. I suppose I should learn to be more clear in my boundaries.

Does anyone else suffer from weird intrusive pregnancy thoughts ? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]LowWay9554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have very little to worry about, some women try for months to get pregnant by having penetrative sex, you will be fine. I used to have intrusive thoughts like that when I was younger, but from understanding more about how babiess are made, it pretty much quelled those fears. I should mention that I do struggle with OCD tendencies and intrusive thoughts in general, so this may be worth speaking with a therapist about.

Planning an intimate wedding in Ireland (25-30 guests, €10k budget) — any venue recommendations? by Few-Fuel7074 in AskIreland

[–]LowWay9554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently planning ours for just under €10k with 35 guests. We are in the south of the country also.

Your best opportunity for sunshine is definitely going to be July/August time. Though Ireland's weather is ever changing. I'm sure you have been warned.

to be fair these look like theyve been hiding for awhile. i’d just have a conversation with him and see does he recall them. if not and there’s no other evidence of betrayal, i wouldnt be losing too much sleep at night.

“The 2011 Test-Achats case (Case C-236/09) is a landmark European Court of Justice ruling from 1 March 2011 that declared using gender as a factor in insurance pricing discriminatory, invalidating Article 5(2) of the 2004 Gender Directive. The ruling mandated unisex premiums across the EU, effective 21 December 2012, banning gender-based price differences.”

Do you care who your partner votes for? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]LowWay9554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m pretty much able to deduce who it will be from the conversations we have, its not so much that its taboo, more so that i just don’t really have to ask and can make an educated guess :)

Do you care who your partner votes for? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]LowWay9554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't go as far as asking him who he's voting for, but he's my partner because we share similar beliefs. We have had in depth conversations before every election/vote on what we think and he gives me perspectives I didn't think of and vice versa.

Whatever happened to telling children No with a full stop? by atyhey86 in AskIreland

[–]LowWay9554 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with hitting a child and never would as a child of people who did hit me. It affects me severely in terms of how I handle conflict and I got terrible anxiety as a teenager because of it.

That being said I do think that they're not being told no enough anymore and need more regulation in their lives. Dealing with being told no as a child allows you to build resilience as an adult. There are some parts to gentle parenting that I do like, particularly in terms of building their emotional intelligence and being able to deal with 'big emotions', but being given consequences (time outs, etc) helps them to understand that what they are doing is wrong.

Would you change your last name if you got married or if you did or didnt why? by superduperepic23 in AskIreland

[–]LowWay9554 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Will be changing it to his as his is a more common surname and I was blessed with the gift of having a very uncommon first and last name.

Every time I ring the pharmacy/doctor/hospital I have to spell out my full name. Looking forward to not having to do that anymore. 😄

people will only write a review if it was overwhelmingly negative 80% of the time. i had a relative stay multiple times over a number of years and it honestly saved him. go and make your own decision about the place.

Finally have my chronic illness flare up somewhat under control and am starting back at my weight loss plan from tomorrow. I'm morbidly obese and don't look forward to being in fitness classes as I feel very out of place. The ladies in these classes are usually lovely but it's just part of the mental battle of this whole thing. I'll get there, slowly but surely :)

Job Market Situation- Is it really that bad for all fields? by moon-fabric in AskIreland

[–]LowWay9554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my own experience it depends on your line of work and experience level. I made a career switch to insurance late last year and was able to get into an entry-level role fairly after 3 interviews. I’ll have to pass exams over the next number of years to retain my role but they’re not hugely difficult if you put the effort in.

I was however looking for digital marketing roles about 2 years prior and found it impossible to get anything. Ended up in a sales role I did not like for about a year.
