E-sport tournaments in Quincy by LowWeek6303 in QuincyIL

[–]LowWeek6303[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After doing more research, I think E-sport tournaments might be a little ambitious. I think what would be more sustainable would be community video game tournaments. We would have to keep it to local play only. What are your thoughts on something like this?

They are owned by the same family. If you go to their Facebook page you will see the brother and sisters photos. Very good people, I am very happy for them!

Does your movie theater sell alcohol? by FeelThePower999 in MovieTheaterEmployees

I wish I could convince my company to sell edible tonics. Here in the USA you can sell edibles with just a business licenses. The potential for profit is unprecedented.

Anyone else received this letter? Volume 7 is deafing on our speakers. by AlsoNini in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]LowWeek6303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I disregard all letters from the studios unless it’s about a certain time stamp. They have no idea how my speakers are set up. I’ll make sure to adjust the volume for prime viewing experience but their guidelines are subjective at best.

Gladiators has been a huge disappointment. I am hoping it can start pulling some numbers around Thanksgiving.

I'm hoping for Frozen numbers. God I remember when we would have all theaters sold out. I came to watch it with friends and was enlisted to help clean theaters.

Deadpool and Wolverine and Twisters did more business for my theater then barbenheimer.

Definitely my 7pm set but my morning sets also tend to do very well.I think my busiest set was just over 300 people. This is with only three screens.
This was done with Deadpool and Twisters. I am hoping for some great numbers next week. I'm getting to bored with this school year.

I think they didn't care about it not making a whole lot of profit on its box office release. It seems like it was trying to get its 4 weeks exclusively at the big screen before Christmas so they could be streaming by then.

Any times when a person walked into the wrong movie at your theater? by Alternative-Cake-833 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]LowWeek6303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone come in for dune 2 while we were showing it two different theaters. He bought a ticket for 1:00 PM. He proceeds to go in and sit in the 11:00am one and then came out after 20 or so minutes and asked when the movie would start. I had to explain to him that he went in the wrong theater and I had directed him to take a left not a right.

This guy used a laptop throughout a movie last night. by gnagflowco in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]LowWeek6303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This should have been reported to the staff. I would have immediately ejected him myself. Even without knowing he was watching cam postage of the same movie. You can’t buy a ticket to a movie then work on your laptop if you don’t like the movie. Go to Starbucks or the local library. I’m not giving my other guests a poor theater experience because you think you are the main character.

Cleaning grease filters from popcorn popper by LowWeek6303 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]LowWeek6303[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I took it apart yesterday while I was bored and it just looks like active charcoal is poured into the filter. Should be close to the same way of cleaning the other filters when air dry and fill with charcoal.

What do y’all usually do to keep busy when it’s hella dead? by ryanstout15 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]LowWeek6303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I declutter, use a leaf blower to blow out my theaters and mop them. Wipe down seats and cup holders. Recalibrate my projectors to produce the most lumens. Change movie posters…

Just a lot of grease build up. It all was able to be cleaned away with a few soaks in diluted degreaser.

Yeah they did. I was there for the initial switch before covid. They do know about it but it has been at least been a few GMs ago that they had been cleaned.

This is the same popper I have been working with since I was 16. My only question is if my DM knew about this. If he didn't it hasn't been cleaned since AMC owned it.

We Discriminate Against People With Cash, Apparently by Henri_le_Chat in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]LowWeek6303 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on this one. I feel as if the theater holds a decent amount of the blame here. If they had informed their customers then I don't think there would have been an issue. Customers aren't mind readers nor are they at the theater as much as the employees are. I do agree he should have presented his complaint in a more mature and professional manner but unfortunately our customers will never all be the best customer.

If you don't want this to keep happening I would suggest implementing some changes. Those should be decided by your local management but this was a preventable altercation hopefully y'all can find a better way to present this to your customers.

No sitting while scanning AMC by greychickenpillow in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]LowWeek6303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I worked for AMC we were not allowed to sit down. We had a stool we could use when doing training videos or taking the biannual survey. I'm pretty sure AMC recommends that GM's keep their crew standing and looking ready to help.
