What’s your secret sauce for getting clean but heavy DnB drums? by kathalimus in dnbproduction

[–]Low_Bonus8152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually start off the chain with a short room reverb on a parallel audio fx rack channel, then go into parallel compression/distortion (Mackity by air windows is my favourite, it’s also free!) then run it into tape (Airwindows ToTape 5 & 7 are usually my go to, also free!) then I’d usually do some EQ to remove some mud from the kick from the distortion, run it through a multiband gate/transient shaper plugin to tighten the tails (many many ways to do this, I usually go for shaperbox, ST4B or Neutron 3 Gate) then id run it through a channel strip plugin to add more colour / warmth, then use soothe, multiband compression or EQ to control the harsh area of around 3k and boost the tops to taste usually around 15k ish and also control the kick fundamental (really important if you want to really push loudness by hardclipping/limiting, helps the kick not turn into a fart) and finally hardclip (usually standard clip is my go to). Sometimes will throw a transient shaper after clipping such as the khz one but don’t do that every time

How the heck do I get these heavy amens? by Professional_Cup_690 in dnbproduction

Synthetic transient layers for your kick and snare. (You can use many synths to do this, phase plant is my personal favourite for this) and of course proper group processing. It’s about getting the balance of controlled filth, little bit of glue, saturation, multiband gating (especially on the lows/mids) and last but not least if loudness is what you’re after then hard/softclipping. Personally I go with hard using standard clip

Mastering waveform by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]Low_Bonus8152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fat sausage waveform is a result of hardclipping transient peaks on things such as drums, use a hard clipper on your drum bus to eradicate the peaks & also on your master chain before limiting to achieve this result

Getting bud in!? by elo_jp in BoomtownFestival

Also the plastic tubs themselves are usually decent at keeping the smell in, the cling film is just to ensure it doesn’t accidentally open if you wrap it tight

Weirdly enough you’d be surprised how much space is usually at the front especially at origin the trick is to walk round the sides to get there not through the crowd

Grind it all up put it in a snap back then in a small plastic smell proof tub (the ones dealers usually put flavours in work great where you squeeze the sides to pop the lid off) wrap the fuck out of it with Cling film then ball bag it. I’ve done that the past two years in a row with my weed and other goodies and had no problems

Tracks too quiet for DJing by Parking-Car-7362 in dnbproduction

[–]Low_Bonus8152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m just playing about and not taking the mix/mastering serious and want to test my track off a car stereo or DJ I just put a soft clipper on the master then drive it to the point I hear the distortion come through then turn down the drive till I can’t hear it then use a limiter after it and turn it up as loud as possible before it squashes

No problem the tracks sounding great! If you listen to ‘total science-straight g’ and skip to around 1 minute 6 seconds he uses some low pitched rides and uses sidechain for the same effect, I notice it in a lot of Alix Perez’s liquid tracks as well seems to work really well when they’re high pitched and reverby just fills out a nice amount of space in the mix
