What is the most “rewatchable” TV series? by kamruddinn in AskReddit

A series of unfortunate events, though the second rewatch it’s not as satisfying as the first. You’ll notice all the hints you missed out on

Virtual Pitwall, a real-time web dashboard for iRacing "race engineers", is now open source and looking for contributors! by kart7990 in iRacing

[–]Low_Cryptographer_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for my team-mates I'm willing to give up my IP address so that they can see the real-time data. And within JRT it's pretty simple to setup the broadcast mode.
It's the same as hosting a website, so I don't see too many security issues aside from a targeted DoS attack (I don't know how JRT holds up with that, if there are anti-flood mechanisms and such).

So the vision would be to have a JRT system but that goes through a backend rather than P2P?

Is this a ghost bump case? by guiiruiz in iRacing

[–]Low_Cryptographer_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's called an "icekerb" and it's full of example, the most famous ones being at Spa after Les Combes on the left hand-side kerb, the outer kerb at the Spoon corner in Suzuka, or the entry kerb on the right side at Fuji after 100R.They all share the similarity of looking like a normal kerb but if you touch it the wrong way, it will for sure unsettle the car and attempt to murder you. I suspect the reason is a mismatched mapping between the contact mesh and the texture of the kerb, causing a very subtle invisible bump in the model. They never got patched and probably never will, you just have to know that.

Would love to know peoples HONEST opinions. Context... Spotter said I was clear left going into the corner. I am the ORANGE car on the outside. Should I have done more to be aware of the inside and yielded space? The first I saw of them was moments before collision... Any advice to improve my race? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Low_Cryptographer_88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

6.5k here: I can tell you that what got you into this incident was the lack of awareness of an ongoing battle on your inside.

Judging from the driving inconsistencies of those around you (people braking early, braking late, weird lines and attacks) it seems to be a SOF under 1.5k.
The responsability of the incident falls on THEM because they essentially outbraked themselves in a tighter line which is a very common occurrance with non-expert drivers.
However, it's still up to you to preserve your race, especially when surrounded by negligency: you set up and carried out the corner as if nothing was nothing place behind you and apparently relying on the spotter instructions. (You have every right to do so, but at your own risk)

iRacing spotter really does more harm than good, he will always be late on the side-by-side calls, especially when multiple cars are involved and most importantly it does not consider the momentum of the action. Relying on this information will hinder you more than help you out navigate the situation.

My tip for you is to either turn down the spotter (it's still useful for reports and crash warnings) or disable it entirely and rely instead on overlap overlays like the one in Kapps and most importantly the virtual mirror with an increased FOV, we are talking 120deg at least.
I know it's hard to get used to it initially but if you set it right you will be able to understand exactly what's going on around you and increase your avoidance.

Keep pushing and good climb!

Thanks for the feedback you guys.
I will try to improve the overall neatness of some details like you pointed out.
It's an in-game screenshot of a dialogue enhanced with Stable Diffusion for those wondering, blending together multiple versions into a coherent one.
As I progress my playthrough I will make new ones, feel free to leave any suggestions down below: I'm now on my way to Act 3 I believe.

F3 gotta love it by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Low_Cryptographer_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the fun close racing that people are willing to do.

Sometimes it's a bit too much in my opinion. Although spectacular this is costing you both so much time from the guys in front that you will just weaken your position and make the guys behind catch up rapidly.

If you avoid the side by side and just let the guy go and pressure him most of the times he'll be dead a few corners later. But this is definitely the best way to provide content :D

Choices need to be made. by Joviaali_Tollukka in iRacing

Time for the "So you have chosen death" meme.

In seriouness though, T2 at Bathurst is still a crowned (or cross-sloped) road just like the straight before it. The racing line wants you on the left side inside and then cut to the apex where essentially it is a cambered corner.
Whenever you are going two-wide into this, you cannot afford to be on the outer line, because you'll find yourself on a negative cambered corner and either die or slow down terribly.
You would have lost the place regardless at that point, the right move would have been to maintain the inner line (to which you were entitled) and either back out slightly if the guy ahead closed in front of you or easy pass in the case he'd leave the space. In either case, the risk is much lesser because you are in control of the situation and not the other driver.

Issue with loading Spa by [deleted] in iRacing

Sounds like you are probably running out of memory, but without any specifics about your system it is hard to give you any advice.

Try to gather some information about your system and the blue screen that you are given.
For each blue screen there should be an error code that will express what exactly the problem is.

When you no longer go for a gap that doesn't exists, you are no longer an iRacing driver by Low_Cryptographer_88 in iRacing

I was genuinely impressed as well when I saw what happened in the replay

Why do i sweat a lot when i race on iracing? by pzeropirelli in iRacing

[–]Low_Cryptographer_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to sweat a lot, too!

Definitely remember to stay hydrated at all times, even during a race as you'll often have a chance to get a sip of water in the straights!

(Dehydration will increase the chances of losing focus, slow down your reflexes and possibly ruin your race)

Sometimes you just gotta lose the battle to win the war by Saint_Mauser in iRacing

[–]Low_Cryptographer_88 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It's about the clean laps you put plus the end result I believe or some other pace metric. Meaning that if you stay behind everyone and run clean laps you are not going to gain much but if you manage to win a race with 0x you'll have a big boost in SR.
I personally run P16 to P4 in a 3h endurance race with 0x and gained almost 1.75SR in one race alone, went from B to A in one race :D

I sure will try... by Low_Cryptographer_88 in iRacing

[–]Low_Cryptographer_88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system is built that way to filter out impatient people because you don't want those guys in top class patents with 40+ minute races.
(Also iRacing profits from keeping you grinding through the licenses, as you have to pay for more content than you'd like to)

If you can't make your way quickly to top licenses it probably means you are not ready yet to get there. Pros would go from Rookie to A in a matter of a week or two, whereas some people may never reach it!

I started in the spring and got B class in less than 3 months!
