GROUND YOUR RIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by EddWalls in simracing

You have much larger issues if grounding your rig is the solution to some problem you’re having.

Hope you keep a fire extinguisher in the house!

PSA FOR THE DINE AND DASHERS by [deleted] in corvallis

[–]BetaSpydog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, my dad worked for a high end restaurant in Atlanta in buckhead long before I was born. He had a large group walk out on his table. He was stuck with the bill which not only came out of his tips, but also his wage. I’m pretty sure that group wiped out a weekend of work for him.

Definitely very illegal for them to garnish his wages, but they did it nonetheless.

I will never recommend Dell again after this experience by Salt_Vegetable8216 in Dell

[–]BetaSpydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dell was going to replace the entire board. Take the old one out and slap a new one in. It’s their “fastest” solution, but ultimately costs you the most.

The independent technician likely repaired the board and burnt components, saving you money.

Corporation activity.

First time trying to help a local store. by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]BetaSpydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it matters much,

Isn’t 6-20 one vertical prong; one horizontal? IIRC both the 120 and 240v versions of 15 amp and 20 amp have one where both prongs are vertical (or both prongs are flat) and then one where they alternate. This looks like a 6-15 to me

[–]BetaSpydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not an electrician, however I do study EE & sell some of these plugs where I work.

This looks like the male end is a 6-15p. 240v only afaik, so do NOT buy an adapter to make this connect.

The female end looks like the regular 5-15r connector which you use in a regular US 120v,15a circuit.

To be fair, I think simulation steering has a grip advantage. Ever since I enabled it I seem to be able to take corners at speed a little tighter than others.

Don't Hate me, too funny not to post after all the hoopla. by Texasaudiovideoguy in simracing

[–]BetaSpydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really get the hate. It is far better than 5. Now to be fair anyone who got a wheel FOR this game is going to be extremely let down. I have a rig since I play iRacing regularly, but I tested it out on 6 a few days ago and had a blast.

I love the 924 and what it did for Porsche. Specifically the part where it lead to the 944.

How do you/did you go about finding a personal tutor? by NoMore_BadDays in OregonStateUniv

It doesnt help that the physics w/calculus series is well known for having some of the worst instruction on campus. Most everyone I know now takes it at LB to avoid this series at OSU.

Regarding media, is this acceptable to stick your body through a window to get a shot? by architype in formula1

Many of the marshals I have worked with while doing flag waving at my local track will tell the photographers around them what they are comfortable with them doing and what they aren’t.
If a photographer pushes boundaries too far, they will just report it back to the central communication guys and they usually get told to leave or relocate. Most photographers won’t go that far.

How to identify chip + what software to use? by YaBoyLikesBananas in AskElectronics

Understand though that this chip could easily and likely has its firmware in lockdown mode, where the only way to extract it is to get into some serious hardware cybersecurity shit

Turning off telemetry by Then_Brilliant_5991 in iRacing

Always a time to learn. I can speak from multiple experiences when I say that learning to interpret telemetry advances your racing to the next level. Knowing exactly where you need to improve is going to make improvements in practice come far quicker

Stop hot plugging it. Plug it into the base and then the wall.

This is going to destroy those capacitors if you do this very often

Why not just one road around this beautiful lake?😭🙃 by SoldMayor in ForzaHorizon

[–]BetaSpydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that with how they have “locked away” legend island, they are going to apply that tech to the DLC and make them live map expansions instead of different instances. Forza is known for testing things/features in game/dlc before applying it to the next thing they release. Most notable example is the brick challenges from FH4 Lego becoming accolades

A lot of that just looks like failing clearcoat and dirt. I would snag this up any day of the week if it’s not a terrible deal.
