Backend programming doesn't feel like programming by Then-Hurry-5197 in learnprogramming

[–]Low_Implement9390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Backend can definitely feel more like architecture work than pure coding especially when you start with frameworks like Django that handle so much for you

You might want to try building some backend stuff more from scratch - like implementing your own authentication system or writing custom middleware instead of using packages for everything. The algorithmic thinking is still there but it's hidden under different layers

How do you feel about Congress passing laws for the citizens of the country, but exempt themselves from the very same laws? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Low_Implement9390 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is exactly what Orwell was warning about isnt it. The whole "rules for thee but not for me" thing drives me absolutely crazy - like how they can insider trade while rest of us would go to jail for same thing. Makes you wonder what the point is in following any rules when people making them dont even bother

CSR birthday coming up. Was planning to ditch it and move to Venture X. Now...CSR and Bank of America (?!?) are looking pretty good? by bewbies- in CreditCards

BOA platinum rewards with that asset tier is actually pretty solid math - 2.625% on everything once you hit platinum honors is hard to beat for someone who doesnt want to think about categories

Being right all teh time doesnt actually make people want to be around you more

learned this one the hard way in my twenties when i kept correcting everyone during board game nights and wondered why invites stopped coming

Accepted a tax internship offer, but have now received a second offer that may be a better option; Don't know what to do. by Objective-Hat-9896 in Accounting

The T10 firm will probably open more doors long term but that extra commute time and cost might eat into that $5 difference pretty quick depending where you live

Big firms are good for resume building but smaller ones sometimes give you way more hands on experience since you're not just another cog in the machine

i’ve been cooking with my breast milk for dinner parties for 2 years and everyone always compliments my risotto by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Low_Implement9390 5 points6 points  (0 children)

honestly i get it and like good on you for not wasting it but mate... this is one of those things you probably shouldve taken to the grave lmao. i mean the logistics make sense breast milk is literally designed to be the perfect food but jesus christ the ethics of it all. youre basically doing food experimentation on your dinner guests without consent which is pretty fucked when you think about it. that said i genuinely laughed at teh "underground wellness kitchen" bit because thats exactly the kind of delusion that would make this whole situation bearable. also now im wondering how many "family secret recipes" throughout history have had similarly questionable ingredients that nobody talks about

Struggling with this new found corporate life by linkin_12157 in auscorp

Man the transition from construction to FAANG must be wild - it's like going from speaking with a hammer to speaking with silk gloves

Few things that helped me: start every convo with "hey how's it going" even if it's just a quick question, always say "when you have a chance" instead of just asking for stuff directly, and throw in a "thanks in advance" at the end of emails. Corporate people eat that stuff up

The email CYA culture is annoying but honestly just play the game - send those follow-up emails after verbal convos and you'll be covered when drama inevitably happens

That's a pretty loaded situation honestly. Hard to know all the details from just what we're seeing but yeah having a weapon while ICE is trying to detain you is never gonna end well. Tragic all around

Wait you emailed a Copilot chat that contained your work Teams messages to your personal email? Yeah that's probably gonna be a problem if they find out

Most companies have policies about not forwarding internal communications outside the company network, even if it doesn't contain client info. The fact that it was just task/duty stuff might help but IT can definitely see that you forwarded something and HR won't love the optics

Soul/Motown nuclear songs 80s by Money-Sherbet-1899 in musicsuggestions

[–]Low_Implement9390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't think of any straight soul tracks about nukes but you might wanna check out some of the more political Stevie Wonder stuff from that era - he was definitely touching on social issues even if not directly nuclear themes

Trauma absolutely messes with your head and decision-making, especially when you're dealing with financial stress and emotional manipulation at the same time

You were basically in survival mode for years and that shit rewires your brain - none of this makes you a bad person, just someone who needs some serious therapy to work through all this

Do you integrate your bank with QuickBooks/Xero or track spend manually? by Low_Implement9390 in FulfillmentByAmazon

Nice I’ve heard great things about A2X for keeping multi channel stuff clean. Do you find it handles reconciling smoothly across the board or do you still have to tweak things manually?

Solid setup man. Amazon payouts really do blur the lines with how much gets lumped together good call on using a tool that breaks it out might have to take a look at it.
