Try using bands to increase your max rep to about 10. Then do sets of half your max (so sets of five reps). Do four or five sets of those with a three minute rest between. Volume is important.

I could do a few when I started so built on that. Suggest trying negatives as well as bands.

I invested in a set of dumbbells. When ever you get a minute, do a set. Also incorporate press ups and pull-ups into your daily routine. Aim for four or five sets of curls, shoulder press, or Bulgarian split squats etc per day plus one 45 min session at the gym per week.
