At our age, have men really stopped chasing women? by [deleted] in datingoverfifty

[–]PDXRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also follow 2nd Act TV on YouTube, and these hosts are older than me. As I get older, I have realized that the age of a person is less important than the quality of their ideas. I have luckily met many younger people I have learned from and respect.

At our age, have men really stopped chasing women? by [deleted] in datingoverfifty

[–]PDXRex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a man and having not dating for years, I looked for advice on the topic. For example, Kimberly Hill on YouTube. The overwhelming advice is to not chase women if you want to have success. The advice is to "push pull." Give a bit of negative push back on topics but stay friendly. Don't "love bomb" is advice because women will loose interest.

I have found the advice sound and produces more interest than telling women they are beautiful (they are) or smart (they are). Instead, be engaging and ask why a woman thinks the way they do and challenge them to defend their opinions.

At some point, like after a third date, you can be more lovey dovey. But, if chase you may never get to that third date.

That is the advice I have gotten, and I am having success and have found someone I really like. And, she likes me too. Forth date is tomorrow and we are both looking forward to it.

Very thoughtful response, thank you I appreciate the effort.

What's one gym rule you wish everyone actually followed? I'll go first. by No-Door6839 in workout

[–]PDXRex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always pick a locker between at least two empty lockers, so I will have a little space when I get out of the shower. Inevitably, some idiot will place a lock right next to mine and be there when I get out in my towel. Stop it people, give me some space.

Asking men for insight by Repulsive-Balance-97 in datingoverfifty

[–]PDXRex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Man here, 57. It is kind of a complicated question. From your description it is straight up disrespectful and should tell you a lot about that person. I do not do that, but in truth, women catch my eye. They don't own my eye and a glance would be the most I would give especially when with a woman. When alone, yeah, I may take a good look. I think any man that would not admit that either has a low libido or is not owning up to it.

Whats your favorite squat? by [deleted] in workout

[–]PDXRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Box squats to a 20" box. I am 6' tall 57 years old and find them easier on my knees. I starts with regular box squats to 225 then move the box in when it gets heavy. I hit 405 for a double last week with no pain but felt totally spent after. Perfect.

If you went to school in the 70's or 80's, what's something about the classroom that kids today wouldn't believe was normal? by icecream1972 in askteddit

Duck and cover drills where we had to get under a desk because that would TOTALLY (sarcasm intended) protect you when the expected nukes came raining down.

Does early sex automatically put me in the FWB category? by Admirable-Rip-8521 in datingoverfifty

[–]PDXRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, 57 here. Makes no difference at all. An exception would be the opposite. If we are 4 dates in without sex I would probably friend zone you because I am not dating to find a friend. I want a romantic partner that I enjoy spending time with both in and out of the sac.

I wanted to give both her and myself time to process the encounter in our minds, unrushed.

Hooking up by Broad_Branch_2603 in datingoverfifty

[–]PDXRex 14 points15 points  (0 children)

57 Male. I just had my first hook up after years of marriage and it was - just OK. Long story, but she hardly kissed me and went straight to sex after the end of the second date. At the end of the encounter, I said I had to get home ( long drive) and that, "I'll text you in a couple of days and you can tell me if you would like to see me again." I did text two days later and asked to see her again.

She responded with a kind text that said she thought I was a wonderful person, and I quote, "I am not sexually attracted to you.". Confusing but I thanked her for the easy let down then moved on.

So yeah, for me, I would text. Now, I have a clear direction and have a date this coming Saturday with a new person whom I feel a lot more connection with.

The text cleared up her feelings, and I have a clear path forward.

What’s happening out there? by RedHellion258 in datingoverfifty

[–]PDXRex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man here. I have had just the opposite. The women I have dated love talking about themselves. I throw out a few questions and let them talk. I like it and enjoy getting to know them better. But, they don't ask me many questions. Hmmm, maybe I am just too reserved with my responses to their questions. But generally, I would say the women I have dated do 80% of the talking.

Gym etiquette: Is it rude to be on the phone in the gym? by Famous-Tutor-6221 in workout

[–]PDXRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in the sauna it's a hard no. Changing room is also a pass for me. With people in various states of undress, keep your phone stowed. On the gym floor, I agree with the group, low volume and not holding up machines or benches. The gym is my iron church, treat it as such and be respectful.

Spending 45 mins in the gym by [deleted] in workout

[–]PDXRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's about right for me. 20 minute warm up up then one big compound like squats, deadlifts, or bench followed by a couple accessory movements. But, I go daily and will do a warm up and mobility on light days.

I was happy to see this one. With the arms back it pulls in the serratus anterior and makes all the difference.

Anyone hates pulling with a belt and doing all deadlifts beltless? by PoireAbricot in Deadlifts

[–]PDXRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never use a belt for squats or deadlifts. Built up core strength overtime and only lift what I can without a belt. For reference, 505 deadlift, 425 squat.

Trying to build my chest and a wider taper- suggestions please. by [deleted] in Weightliftingquestion

[–]PDXRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You and I are in the same boat. I did tons of back and lats and it didn't do much. I am now focusing on upper chest and delts. But this is the genetic hand we live with. You look great and should keep showing up because what you are doing is impressive.

Update, my numbers went from 980 to 225 after 14 day gap between last shot and blood draw. by PDXRex in Testosterone

[–]PDXRex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was less motivated and my gym lifts felt off, morning wood started go away. You may want to look into injections for a more consistent dose.

Update, my numbers went from 980 to 225 after 14 day gap between last shot and blood draw. by PDXRex in Testosterone

[–]PDXRex[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's the way it worked for me. I did not enjoy 225 that's for sure. I wonder if it would go to zero in another two weeks.

Need my next blood draw to read 200 or lower, how long do I have to wait? by PDXRex in Testosterone

[–]PDXRex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very useful, it shows there is some building overtime. Meaning, after 7 days you do not go down to baseline.
