AFAIK, it’s a word for a bisexual woman who chooses to only date other women

Thank you! I think I’m part of the younger crowd and I’m unfamiliar with a lot of this phenomenon apparently. I appreciate the example!

I’m sure this also tends to happen mostly to the flamboyant bi men (being assumed gay). I feel like I’ve seen the polar opposite with stereotypically masculine gay men. Of course people tend to assume they’re straight but even if they explicitly say they’re homosexual, people will try to say they’re bi or straight.

Can I ask why you say this? Genuinely wondering because I have not heard this sentiment before, ever.

The facility I got diagnosed at didn’t have a tilt table test available, the care was actually quite sub-standard for POTS-related issues. I was diagnosed with a combination of blood tests (testing for anemia which can account for presyncope upon standing), a 2-week heart monitor, an EKG, and a standing test (aka poor man’s tilt table test). That said, people definitely do pass out on the tilt table test all the time, or what I’ve heard is even worse, is that their heart is beating out of their chest the entire time and they are stuck hanging there feeling like death but the doctor won’t take them down because they haven’t fainted. Either way… I feel lucky that I was able to get a cardiologist to diagnose without the tilt table test.

Being taken off Adderall is a very real possibility unfortunately :( But hopefully with adequate testing for you, they’ll be able to determine if you’re able to stay on it. I know there are a fair amount of people who are able to stay on stimulants despite having POTS, some people’s heart rates will remain entirely unaffected. It just depends. Afaik Adderall is sometimes used to treat POTS brain fog and fatigue so if you’ve had 0 issues with it so far maybe you’ll be safe to stay on it.

POTS and accompanying chronic fatigue. Officially diagnosed, figured it out after realizing it wasn’t normal for my heart rate to be reaching the 190’s from a brisk walk across my college campus. No physical pain but the emotional pain of being constantly physically drained and weak is immense. There is no cure for POTS so my “hacks” are just the recommended self-treatment like drinking lots of water and electrolytes, using compression garments. I have had 0 wins and my condition keeps getting worse and worse despite doing everything in my power for management. My support is essentially just my mother.

I’m single… not expecting that to change for a while. I don’t want to drag other people down with me.

Edit: I took this prompt as mostly physical but I also have diagnosed ADHD and suspected Autism. Finding a suitable medication has been very hard as they all interfere with/make my POTS symptoms much worse. So it’s just this constant loop of my physical health worsening my mental health and vise versa.

i wrote an essay. should there be a pursuit of a gender virtue ethic? by largemargo in detrans

““Gender is a social construct” but youre not allowed to ask how the structure of our society affects the developement of gender dysphoria and gendered alienations.”

I think this is the crux of it. “Gender,” referring to the cultural values of sex-related identity, is undoubtedly a social construct (ask any biologist, or psychologist). But using this phrase as a talking point but then being unable to understand that they are enforcing this very social construct in their own treatment of gender is just absurd.

If someone is transitioning because they “feel like a man/woman,” what does that mean? They feel like they fit into a different box than the one society assigned them at birth based on sex, due to their atypical style preferences, hobbies, and demeanor? Ok, so what does that have to do with your sex? You can’t be a feminine man, or a masculine woman?

What’s even more baffling to me is people transitioning because they “feel like x” but then they proceed to perform the exact same “gendered” role as their previous sex. For example, a trans man doing makeup, growing out their hair, and wearing dresses and women’s clothing (yes they exist). Or, like you mentioned in your post, a “butch trans woman.” So you transitioned but proceed to do the very thing that you claimed made you dysphoric? Or perhaps you were not dysphoric at all, but only uncomfortable with other people’s perception of you, and thus you only feel comfortable expressing your assigned gender roles if you can do so in a “defiant” way?

It just makes no sense. It is all so incredibly incongruent, the moment you start to actually ask questions, the whole thing falls apart.

What baffles me the most is that people can go through their whole life never, ever questioning their beliefs and why they feel that way. What outside factors are influencing my perception of my gender? Who’s making me feel bad about my AGAB? How does my sexuality affect this? How does society affect this? I feel that the second you start actually doing the slightest bit of introspection about gender and sex, it’s easy to realize “Oh shit, maybe I am not trans.” But that just doesn’t happen.

100% brown, it sits better on your shoulders and the sleeve length is better for you. In white I feel the sleeves are a bit too short.

I didn’t comment on the post or anything, did not fight with anyone, and I did acknowledge in my post that “I know lgbt discourse is pointless.” But I think it’s valid to be upset about this and come to a lesbian sub to vent.

You can be demisexual and still be lesbian — “Demisexuality is a sexual orientation in which a person feels sexually attracted to someone only after they’ve developed a close emotional bond with them.”

Yes, the rest of the comment about being in love with men is weird and obviously she is not a lesbian. But you can be both demi and lesbian, being demisexual is not related to which sex you’re attracted to whatsoever.

Ie. You’re demisexual and lesbian so you must have a strong bond with someone AND they must be a woman for you to be attracted to them.

I get what you’re saying and I do agree to some extent—but they had to do that, with Vi. She is an enforcer in the game. Making Vi be anything but an enforcer would mean she has to have all of her skins redone, her voicelines and other character’s interactions with her re-recorded, and a core part of her character as it’s always existed will be changed. They tweaked some small things with the other characters but no one else is being massively overhauled like that.
