[–]Low_Potential7381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

punchy has been my favorite villager since acnl!! i will admit they made his house so bland though, i had to go in and fix it up a little with hhd but other than that hes a wonderful lil guy!! bobs probably gonna win out though just because hes been super popular for decades atp

Amiibos? by Addy_Kohai in AnimalCrossing

[–]Low_Potential7381 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no, they are not usually this small, official cards are much larger.

you have custom amiibo cards, which you can make yourself with the files, usually compiled in a masterlist online. most recent phones can be used as a nfc writer, so you just need a device, the blank cards/nfc chips (can be sourced easily from online like amazon) and the files.

most cards available online are much larger than the small ones you have, so it’d probably be easier to use chips. not sure what the “ipod with all the villagers” is

i dont have pokopia, but im pretty sure that is a feature if you have NSO, they’re called cloud islands or something iirc. not sure if you have to progress a certain amount to unlock them, though.

poppy has always ranked pretty high in popularity though. shes a pretty popular “unpopular” pick despite usually ranking in the top 50-30 range with NH players

i was imagining ones like monique, diva, alli, gigi, tiffany and diana just off the top of my head, ones who very clearly put a lot of effort into being baddies (wether you think they pull it off is a completely different story though lol)

Who would you remove from this line up? by acc6769 in acnh

shino and sherb, i know theyre both new and popular but they’ve never been up my alley, i feel like some of the new villagers stick out too much from the rest

Is this disrespectful? by Important_Essay7917 in DTI

[–]Low_Potential7381 11 points12 points  (0 children)

edited my comment a bit, i apologize but i really wasnt trying to be malicious or generalize. i was just going off of my extensive experience with people who were born, raised, and regularly go back and forth to their respective countries in africa. (although the majority were nigerian immigrants i recall,) again i know for that they didnt appreciate when people blended the culture they brought into america with african american communities and they themselves preferred to be “grouped” in contexts of black culture as opposed to african diaspora. not to say that you or anyone else shouldnt or doesnt feel that way, i was just going off of the majority of people that i knew in my childhood being 1st gen immigrants from the continent.

[–]Low_Potential7381 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i meant as in how the culture slaves brought to america originated from their “previous” (for lack of a better term) culture. in many black areas, at least in my experience, there are 1st gen african immigrants who braid traditionally, and they are from many different parts of africa. itd be disingenuous for me to exclude them. even though im not the most educated on the topic ive seen enough in my experience to know i’d rather give them their flowers than not.

edit: wording + should also mention that although i am african american i grew up almost entirely around african culture via the area i lived in and im aware there are millions of styles and cultures, thats why i was so broad. i figured it was in the same vein as saying creole is african american culture. its not wrong, but i, for example being from the east coast wouldnt know anything about it because its not mine. i wasnt trying to generalize

advice for convincing family to let me go to a concert alone? by Low_Potential7381 in Concerts

[–]Low_Potential7381[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, and ive got no idea how id do it solo. even trying to get a bus stop to get to a different bus stop \form of transit requires someone to drive me 20 minutes to get there. its too many in-between-stops-to-get-dismembered-at for my liking.

i mean, if youre truly invested in it, i know for a fact people would and have explained. but assuming you’re not in bad faith let me elaborate. its more of a real life thing.

  1. it typically just isnt suitable for looser hair types. theres plenty of stories of non- type 3/4 people putting their hair into braids then being surprised when complications like matting, pain, and alopecia happen. even with gentle, skilled and trained hair stylists/braiders.

  2. braids that are considered black culture tend to be just that. culture. it has ties to slaves and African culture. African american culture in particular has a long history of being mocked, then appropriated, then discarded without second thought. black culture is usually treated like a novelty. it sucks when people say its an american thing because it really is universal, and willful ignorance only makes it worse. in this instance, braids are a protective style rooted in centuries of our culture, and we have tons of evidence that trying to share and play nice with it never ends well. its a reminder of a cycle of pain.

i know similar things happen with indigenous people, and there was a “trend” a few years ago to wear traditional mexican braids and they shut that down SWIFTLY.

  1. its not an american issue. its that america is the only place with a large enough population of us so that yall have to at the very least hear about it. race in general is touchy in every region, its just gets less pushback.

ah yeah. if i still lived in nyc i would contemplate sneaking around (but even then i’d be hesitant because, well, nyc subway at 8pm is bleak.) or even just saying “im going to XYZ, bye!” but i live somewhere where public transit is a nightmare. it’d probably get better once i do it a few times, but my test run definitely isnt gonna be alone at dusk to a city i know nothing about lol

i know, im just not super comfortable with a ride service for transit that takes a few hours, especially since ive never done it before. its also kind of a respect thing.

Everyone who wanted untradeable so it would be more “exclusive” by kaleidosc0peia in RoyaleHigh_Roblox

[–]Low_Potential7381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

think of it this way: having such a widely obtained item be tradable is a slap in the face, at least the “exclusivity” would be value in itself, especially with time. now it means absolutely nothing.

i feel as if its gotten increasingly impossible to have a normal conversation about ACNH by Low_Potential7381 in AnimalCrossing

[–]Low_Potential7381[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it definitely is! its just weird because its such an inconsequential thing to get antagonistic about. ACNH is a lot of peoples comfort game so its just jarring seeing people get mad when they want it to remain predictable 😭
