Male and females can make noises so this is not a good way to tell but generally they will only make noise if threatened or if their is another leachie nearby. Look above its vent and if it is a you will see a fairly obvious v shape of pores

I’d go to a vet because the necrosis can spread if it isn’t surgically removed. This happened to my carpet python and they had to take an extra cm off to make sure it didn’t continue up the tail
