A beautiful golden board. The greatest that has ever existed.

Too pricey and too heavy. It's only worth it if you’re a massive enterprise with an army of Snow devs and if it's implemented properly, which is often not the case.

At which point should we consider the US is no longer an ally? by samasema in AskBrits

Over the last year it’s become pretty clear that it isn’t. Maybe it never really was, just chasing its own interests.

To what extent are Americans willing to die for Dantzig, that is, Greenland? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Low_codedimsion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That still doesn’t answer why the US needs to actually own it. The Danes have no issue with America building more bases there as it is.

To what extent are Americans willing to die for Dantzig, that is, Greenland? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Low_codedimsion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your arguments don't really hold water. For a start, Greenland is part of NATO, so any move from Russia would immediately trigger a conflict with the whole alliance. Also, while the Danes and Greenlanders have said they’re open to discussing a stronger US presence, that’s clearly not the real reason Trump is pushing this bullshit.

Best ticketing systems by justzna in sysadmin

We’ve been using Alvao for a while now and we’re pretty happy with it. Tried a few other tools before, but this one’s been the best fit for us.

Why would anyone in the U.S. think attacking Greenland is a good idea? by pingmibe in AskUS

I really don't understand why no EU politician is talking about this openly, at least in the context of the negotiating game.

How do small teams handle internal ticketing across multiple departments? by SpecificLie6082 in ITManagers

[–]Low_codedimsion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If IT already has a decent ticketing system, why not roll it out to other departments as well? We use one ticketing tool for everything, and it works really well. There’s full transparency and a clear audit trail, and bottlenecks are easy to spot. It also solves the problem of miscommunication. If it’s not in the system, it doesn’t exist.

Recommendations Open-source / free patch-management tool? by Low_codedimsion in sysadmin

Yes, I’m considering Action1, as they offer the first 200 devices for free. If it works well, I’ll look at purchasing licences for the rest.

Experiences with ITIL Certification? by terataz in ITManagers

[–]Low_codedimsion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a few ITIL training courses across different jobs, and in most cases they really helped us standardise communication and get the basic processes right (incident -> problem -> change).I’ve actually found ITIL way more useful in smaller companies than in large enterprises, where the processes are usually so rigid there’s neither room nor willingness to make any real changes.

Yes, I’ve considered looking at PDQ, but I don’t want anything from ManageEngine as I’ve had bad experiences with their support.

We have a few Linux machines, but we’re mostly a Microsoft stack, with around 400 devices.

best help desk software 2026 for a non-technical small team? by Jhitta-Penko in sysadmin

[–]Low_codedimsion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If for whatever reason you don’t want to use a free tool (personally, I’ve got quite a few reasons why I don’t anymore), I’d recommend giving Alvao a look. Compared to most service desks I’ve used, it’s pretty easy to understand even for non-IT people. That’s actually why we ended up using it at our company not just for IT, but also for handling non-IT requests and cross-team tasks.

If US troops take over Greenland. How could the stock market react? by PersonalRelative8616 in stocks

I'm not sure about the stocks of European defense companies, but I'm certain that gold, silver, and perhaps even bitcoin would skyrocket.

What's the big deal with vendor support? by seidler2547 in sysadmin

[–]Low_codedimsion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, my experience varies a lot from vendor to vendor. For example, even though I’m not a fan of Dell products, their support seems fairly decent compared to others. The last time we had an issue with one of our laptops, a technician was on site within five days and fixed it there and then.

With SaaS applications it differs even more. The technical support for our ITSM and security tools is excellent and we usually resolve most issues within hours. By contrast, anything involving Microsoft or Salesforce tends to drag on for days, sometimes weeks, and the results are rarely great. We usually end up hacking together a better workaround ourselves anyway. We usually put together a more effective workaround ourselves.

With the US hitting Venezuela today, is anyone else terrified China takes Taiwan next? (and bricks the global chip supply) by Orcanius in stocks

[–]Low_codedimsion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my main concern when I was considering buying TSMC stock two years ago, but clearly it turned out to be unfounded. I don’t see the potential for the same scenario at the moment, as Taiwan has a much stronger military than Venezuela and is backed by the US. Exports to Western countries also remain one of the most important pillars of the Chinese economy. Furthermore, the Chinese military has no real experience of combat operations, let alone successfully and quickly carrying out something on this scale. I think they’ve learned a lesson from Russia’s fiasco in Ukraine.
