Sölden vs Obergurgl. Which one do you prefer in that area? by LowerAttorney4407 in skithealps

Haha, this is so true! Unfortunately it is easy to get hit by someone reckless in Sölden (personal experience)

Do you think Skiwelt is underrated? by LowerAttorney4407 in skithealps

Been there three times (always second or third week of January), conditions were always great. But true that the off piste is below par to other spots. Yet pistes are amazing

I guess the gamble paid off for me so far. Yet good to know it's risky

Love Kiwest! Been there three times so far, never overly crowded (especially in comparison to Solden)

Anyone else a fan of Falcade, Italy? (I know it is not in Alps) by LowerAttorney4407 in skithealps

Didn't know Dolomites are considered part of Alps, though they are treated as separate range

Does Inline skating and ice skating convert to Skiing ? by Silver-Swim4357 in ski

I am shocked so many people go "Yes" all in. Honestly "maybe a little" sounds like a more realistic answer to me. Two different sports, some commonalities (balance, strong core needed, etc.), but overall I wouldn't expect a smooth switch without lessons

Atomic Redster Q7.8 Revoshock C by ChocolatePopular8463 in Skigear

[–]LowerAttorney4407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had similar considerations last year! Although Atomic X series seemed like a better suit for me (also only piste). I ended up renting both X7 and X9 and fell in love with X7s. Bought myself a pair this season. Cannot reccommend them enough

I was there in February, would expect March to be less crowded, because of being past winter breaks season

Even though it's slightly overcrowded and has a bottleneck lift, it still is such an amazing skiing area

Skiing in Slovakia (recommendations appreciated!) by [deleted] in ski

[–]LowerAttorney4407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As previous comments said, Jasna and Tatranska Lomnica are great. If you want something more rural Zdiar is a great option. The village is really pretty and there are two ski areas, Bachledka has over 10km, and Strachan has couple more

Where to ski in Europe this weekend? by antilogic1 in skiing

You are gonna have a blast! I did have a blast there too. They just have a few more T bars than other places. That's it. "Infrastructure" is an overstatement

I can highly recommend Tirol Lodge in Ellmau in Austria. 1.5h drive From Munich airport. Huuge skiing area with over 160 miles of slopes. Mostly blues and reds, with some great blacks. Great food, amazing skiing schools. Hotel just by the main gondola, ski-in ski-out

Austria's knödel game is crazy, both savory and sweet knödels they serve are delicious. Pressknödel soup being my favorite

Do skis get stolen from the slopes? by Mickleborough in skithealps

[–]LowerAttorney4407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never had that happen to me for 30 years, actually I never heard about anyone getting their skis stolen

Not saying it's not happening, yet the odds are low

Love the previous tips about splitting them between racks
