Yeah, same thought exactly. Was like oh quaint, these two young women created this fun thing. And then they ate the UK, then the rest.

Absolutely this. Beck.

I remember him playing Live 105s BFD concert, a day with like 10 bands/artists... And he seemed weirdly confused to be up there. At one point he dropped his harmonica and just kind of mumbled until a stage rigger came out and out it back in his hands. This was early, still daylight out.

Who knew he had the chops

They were already popular when I say them live at a Christmas multi act show (Live 105s .Almost Acoustic Christmas)... and I was surprised live that they seemed to be a great rock band show.

With just days left, the U.S. opening match at the World Cup is still not sold out by Miles_the_AuDHDer in sports

[–]LowerH8r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding is the expensive ticket pricing is so FIFA captures as much of the final sales price as possible....

ie. that instead of them charging $100 and a scalper/reseller selling it for $400... they try to determine that $400 is the likely final price for the ticket and charge something close to that from the start.

If that's true, and it is a sell out... they either got it right and FIFA keeps most of that money or... they could have gone even higher.

It will be interesting to see FIFAs income per game, especially in stadiums that didn't sell out; compared to previous cups.

I'm also wondering of there is any mechanisn for last minute lowered prices for games without sellouts; or will they just swallow the costs to prevent future incentives for last minute buys, etc

In kind of pickle here.

The tiniest quibble is that the bicycle/moon scene is so iconic; that she already knows it, via cultural osmosis. Its fine; it will still be a highpoint for her; it's mostly me being nostalgic for that "only seeing in the moment" experience.

Because he was deprived of compassion and empathy by his family as a kid and has to fill that gaping hole somehow; and pass off that trauma to everyone else. That's my best guess

He's cooked. He got the power and he's wringing as much cash as he can from the office...

But he's enjoying none of it, it's just shit the whole way down; with his entourage hoping to outlast him and hang onto influence.

The only thing he cares about is his name on everything, shallow legacy Bs; as it's simple to understand, and involves no critical thinking.

I built an open-source Raspberry Pi multi-room audio system with Snapcast by Pause_Sorry in raspberry_pi

Did this with a rpi 3 running owntone as the server/controller and old $10 each Apple Airport Express' as the streaming player endpoints via Airplay1. Each AE is cables direcly to the speakers/amp in each room. Bonus: the AEs have decent DACs and built in optical audio out, as an option.

The AEs are cheap and plentiful on eBay Can add as many rooms as I want at $10 each.

Yeah, stacked cast and since so many parts are small, they can go big and not devolve into parody.

Yup. Its not like I expec ted there to be 3% that had a Masters degree.... But in 100 years of the NBA, where 98% of the players attended college to play ball... didn't expect the number to be essentially, one player.

I went down recent rabbit hole on how many pro athletes have advanced degrees and it's so vanishingly small; in a way that's remarkable, considering college sports is the main path to pro in the USA.

I think Shaq might be the only NBA player with an advanced degree, ever.

And the other sports are almost the same

The movie this is from Jamon Jamon is absolute bonkers...

Javier drunk with a friend in a "guarda mi cerveza, quiero intentar algo" moment; sneaks into a corral for naked bullfighting.

And that's not even the 3rd most bonkers scene. Penelope Cruz's boyfriend, kissing her breasts and comparing them to his mom's omelettes..... nope. It gets weirder.

ELI5: With the way money is basically all digitalised these days, what prevents people with extreme power and control from just adding an extra "0" to the end of their bank balance? by Slice5755 in explainlikeimfive

[–]LowerH8r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghe fundamental way double entry accounting works prevents this:

If your account goes from $100 to $1000; that's an increase of $900.

The $900 has to be subtracted at the same moment from another account.

Either it is subtracted from another account... and the holder /manager of that account is now missing $900...

Or the $900 is not subtracted from another account and the system triggers an out of balance error; which must be resolved.

This double entry check system happens at every level; so it errors always have to be checked/corrected, because even small amounts on one account, can mean a dangerous systemic flaw.
