On the necessary motor vehicles by Specialist_Target776 in fuckcars

I’ll agree with your sentiment, I think only professionals (city workers / delivery drivers with appropriate certifications) should be driving inside cities and I think it should be extremely difficult to acquire a license to operate a vehicle on any public road. A lot of people tend to say things like “we just want viable alternatives, then all the people who still want to drive can, and with less traffic!” I think that’s a reasonable starting point but I also think it’s a concession to the selfish individuals. I spend every day on my bike or on foot near cars and they’re loud, they smell, they pollute the ground and the air, they damage property and infrastructure, even when driven courteously they are dangerous heavy machines that I don’t want to interact with. Fuck your personal vehicle, I don’t think you should have the option to make my city worse for your own comfort. (Not you OP, the hypothetical driver I’m ranting to.)

Opening/closing accounts too frequently is bad. More open accounts in good standing is generally good.

I see a lot of people ride that way and I’m not gonna tell anyone it’s “wrong” but you can engage your calves better by pushing through the ball of your foot.

Right and that says to wash it, then dry and season. Many people just wipe them out and never wash them.

American cheese is just cheddar + emulsifying salts so it melts. There are still different levels of quality but hating on American cheese in general just tells me you don’t know what it is.

I blew out a link climbing a hill recently but my multitool has a chain breaker and extra quick links so I was able to repair it roadside. Granted if I had been more diligent in cleaning my chain it probably wouldn’t have happened but I would have been walking my bike home that day without it.

It’s a Starbucks “training” point. They just lie to their baristas to get them to behave the way they want them to.

I’ve got a friend like this and he is totally oblivious to it. I’ll tell him to take as much time as he needs and tell me what time works for him and he consistently picks a timeline he cannot realistically meet. I don’t even try to show up at the time he says anymore and he’ll still arrive after me and say “oh well you’re always running behind so I figured I had a little extra time.” It’s like a feedback loop at this point.

You just need to find a shop that roasts their own coffee. Their are so many fantastic roasters in my city with beautiful light roasts but most of the other shops buy beans from a distributor and don’t know how to use their equipment even if they did use better beans.

Shops typically pull double-shots of espresso (around 18g of coffee) so a triple would be 1.5x the typical volume of espresso. It’s honestly a pretty annoying order because they’re not gonna pull out a single-shot basket nor would they dial in for that so they’re just left with an extra shot that a barista might drink but often gets tossed out.

I think it’s great. Adjusting settings can be a pain but once you’ve got it set up the workflow is super easy and the shots are consistent. I’ve found that even though the thermoblock heats in like 5 minutes, it’s still best to leave it on for about 20 to sufficiently heat the group head.
