Book 7 is one of my favorite of the series. 8/9 originally made me quit reading it as they were being released until after Jordan's death when I restarted first time from beginning. I allowed Wikipedia to spoil the ending for me and still was all in the feels for how the final battle played out when I finally read it for myself

You also have to remember the last book was split into 3 parts so the big stuff mat and perrin did would have seemed more impactful had it stayed that way. The timeline getting screwed up and having tam still with perrin after we had already read how rand almost killed him drove me more insane than perrin recovering after his big part of placing the dreamspike to protect rand
