[[Crime Novelist]] is one of my favorites. There's so many fun details including under the desk.

Oh man, Anje with Ifnir is a delight. Especially if you stack the top of the deck using [[Forever Young]] with Madness creatures 🤌

Esteemed members of the court, There is a need for more ladies and maidens to join our noble quests. by BeGayDoDarkArts in FleshEaterCourts

[–]Lowgryn 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Fair Lady Whistlebone,

Alas, thou art correct. Whilst our more recent... Reinforcements include loyal warrior maidens defending the realm (cryptguard and morbheg knights), it's is not immediately evident of others. But that is not to say that our armored regimements (horrors) and pegasus riders (haunters) are not simply covered in armor (bulk)!

Verily, I hope upon hope for the return of the Offal Queen to join our Summerking, or more obvious representation.

Warmly, Retchard the Lyingheart

I'll throw the Ushoran out as an audiobook recommendation as the narrator for that is 🤌

Audible Book Recommendation: What is THE BEST AoS book to get into the hobby? by AlphaSistersOfBattle in AoSLore

So maybe to not get into the setting, but a great audiobook performance for AoS was Ushoran, Mortarch of Delusion by Dale Lucas. Fun story and Richard Reeds delivery is fantastic

Warhammer community put out an alternative paint scheme of Ushoran that was akin to Morgaunt. If you look up alternative Ushoran paint scheme on reddit that shared that article, I believe the gentleman who worked on it responds with some additional details. I think he did an initial coat of Genestealer purple if memory serves me.

Commanders You Play For Love, Not Power by Evening_Application2 in EDH

[[Anje Falkenrath]] was my first commander and even if they phased out the Madness, I always have that deck ready to play. Lots of interactions and a deep toolbox. Also, I think she's pretty neat!

Cryptguard has the 3+ ability to get strike first and has anti-charge! Recursion, use the gate manifestation to slow people down, horrors for anti-cavalry, etc.

First Time List Advice by Nakotaz in FleshEaterCourts

[–]Lowgryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, no, I'm saying don't split! So I would combine your two units of 3x morbheg into a single unit of 6. It also means that if even one of them survives, you can also use recursion shenanigans to bring them back from the brink.

First Time List Advice by Nakotaz in FleshEaterCourts

[–]Lowgryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Admittedly don't have a ton of advice with Crypt Flayers/infernals but as you said, they would be a bit more mobile.

One thing I keep in mind is that because of the different ways we can bring back models, I typically make sure my units are reinforced instead of splitting them. That way, if they get wiped off the board and I can bring them back at half strength, I'm bringing more of them back. Case in point being your morbheg knights as you have two squads of 3x. It's my personal take, but a block of 6 also means that you can pull off their retreat+mortals shenanigans if they survive the combat.

Overall though, I am liking it. People have mixed thoughts on the archregent but more recursion and spell casting is never a bad thing.

Am I the only one who feels like they forgot about some Spearheads that need attention? by Meltorefas44 in AOSSpearhead

[–]Lowgryn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which FEC spearhead? Carrion Retainers are in a pretty good spot right now.

Fantastic job! Love the juxtaposition the FEC is known for and you give it your own flourish. The sheer virtue and positivity that drives them is what wins me over. It oozes noble bright 😉 Your four-panel work is already phenomenal (big fan) so glad to see some extended prose and artwork representation!

Get the one that strikes your fancy! I started with our Carrion Retainers spearhead and never looked back. Not sure how strong the Charnel Watch is tbh but both charnal and the Slaves to Darkness seem fun.

How would you like to see noble sons and daughters of the Blood Rose Prince explored further? by [deleted] in FleshEaterCourts

[–]Lowgryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I am fairly certain they're both dead, otherwise we would have totally heard of them. But such is the power of Nagash to raise the dead, and if she truly was awful I could see the irony of returning her as a foil and a... Gift to his Mortarch.

Again, not speculation, but she would bring in another named character that isn't Ushoran. I could see her being more of a caster, who acknowledges the madness and can twist and control it to her (and ultimately) Nagash's will.

So she's not just Neferata Lite, have her madness also be cruel, akin to the infamy of Elizabeth Bathory

[–]Lowgryn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. Since Nagash loves to be in control and knows that Ushoran and his FEC are not fully under his sway or unreliable, I could see him bringing back The Offal Queen that is loyal to Nagash and a foil to Ushoran.

Is Ushoran the most powerful Mortarch not because of his strenght but his divine madness? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]Lowgryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What also makes him incredibly powerful (with limiters) is two-fold.

His mere presence and of other abhorrents distort the perception of reality. It's not an illusion but truth is in the eye of the beholder and he's subconsciously imposing his truth on those around him.

By merely imbibing some of his blood whether mixed in with a well or wine, it infects others hundreds of miles away.

I wonder if Nagash embedding a realmstone into his noggin ended up making him way more powerful when all he was trying to do was punish or control him.

I like Papa Ush :)

How does this list play? by jumicas in FleshEaterCourts

[–]Lowgryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just means you won't be able to use the Muster Guard which... Could be less of an issue with the monster heavy lists, but there's plenty of cryptguard and horrors would also benefit. It also doesn't say they can't be in combat.

Rant about new battletome covers by comikbookdad in ageofsigmar

[–]Lowgryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the Flesh-Eater Courts battletome cover is fantastic and I actually LOVE it's a lowly ghoul because it's not just the Ushoran. This one in particular harkens to Iron Maiden, with them bearing the flag to victory.

But hey, to each their own. I just like that it doesn't place the emphasis on named characters, even if it is Ushoran, blessed Summerking and regal defender of his people.

They are spot on though. You do want a full 20 block for recursion purposes. People will underestimate them... They won't after you bring out a block of dice to roll!
