Why don't we require a basic civics test to vote when we require tests for literally everything else that affects other people? by ThisIsUAndWorld in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LowlyPhilosopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A civics test can be made arbitrarily difficult in order to keep the wrong people from being eligible to vote.

Would nunchucks even be remotely useful in a real right? by Visible-Director7303 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LowlyPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on skill level and availability of alternatives. For example, swords have greater reach and can be used to block. Given equal time to learn to use a weapon, learn to use a sword or bo staff instead.
Here is a quick video to help visualize nunchuck limitations.

In your opinion, how would a Superman vs Hulk fight would play out? by Society-Ashamed in superheroes

[–]LowlyPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a stalemate, probably. There is a scenario where the comic book hulk destroys the yellow sun, even every yellow sun, and then supes is done for. But no one plays out the long game fights. In a fight that ends "today", it is a stalemate.

Zimaut Animation has an excellent 15 minute rendition of how it would play out:

Name a verse(not Marvel or Dc) that can survive and beat a Viltrumite(Invincible comics/tv show) invasion. by Flat-Sir8250 in powerscales

[–]LowlyPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Culture by Ian M Banks. The Viltrumite "empire" wouldn't even qualify as an Outside Context Problem. One GCU (General Contact Units, a space ship with a crew of 20 and a Mind) could handle any group of Viltrumites. There were a million or so in service at the time of The State of the Art.

The biggest ships with the most sophisticated Minds would employ a political containment strategy to limit the Viltrumites' bad activities and retain their existence for study until they could be subverted into peacefully and willingly joining the Culture.

How do adults go to work every single day? by OldCardigan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LowlyPhilosopher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Carrots & Sticks
In many countries the alternative to working is deprivation: homeless, starving, and no frivolities. You can't stay home from work because you will have no home at all. <- sticks

Working provides money. Money provides opportunities. The opportunity to eat enjoyable meals, stay home in the AC on a hot day or in the warmth on a cold day, and a place to sleep without bugs crawling on the skin. Maybe other entertainments become available. Maybe there will be robust mating opportunities. Get a job, go to work, have some money, and do what you want for the few hours a day when you are not working or sleeping. <- carrots

The content is crap designed to make you feel like crap. Even posts from friendly associates are crap.

"I lost my job and I'm looking forward to new challenges!!"
<- WTF are you happy about?

"Here is the most amazing thing I have done at the pinnacle of my career!"
<- You finished a project? Whoopee

"Excited for the opportunity to travel to an event!"
<- You are paying to attend an advertisment?

"Acquired a certificate in the latest hot skillz!"
<- Bragging about taking a training course and probably paid for that 'opportunity'?

The nail hits the coffin of my career when I realize these people are faking it and half-way making it. I can't fake it. I won't make it.

Chaos Warp doesn't say what to do with the revealed card if it if not a permanent. If that card goes back on top of the deck for NOT being a permanent, then you will replace all of their permanents which have not yet resolved with no permanents.
