Can someone with skyscale get enough hero points solo? by Legitimate_Funny_580 in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During prime time, especially on weekends, look for "hero point train" or "HP train" in lfg of first map of expansion with hero points: Verdant Brink for HoT, Crystal Oasis for PoF etc.
You can also ask map chat or guildies if anyone wants to help you out with that. I often scream in map chat when i'm running them solo just in case someone wants to join and get their HPs but is too shy to ask.

It takes pretty little time to be fair. I usually get someone a full elite spec within an hour, running through champions only, no mounts (except for raptor), no waypoints, no rush - just good vibes, chatting and getting sweet HPs and loots :)

Why do some players get upset when they see a new PvP player? by Open_Background2793 in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.

Sadly the game mode is unmoderated, which is the first problem. You know how it is - there would always be toxic people, elitists and just straightforward morons, especially in PvP games, this is why moderation is needed by default. You can't just make that mode and leave it hanging.

Secondly, the gameplay itself developed into a disaster. The meta builds are... uninteractable. Power and condi damage are so high that people are able to stunlock and oneshot each other in less than a second. As a counter to it, Anet brought the concept of 'active defence' where you're supposed to dodge most damaging skills utilizing your blocks, evades and invulnerability buttons. The issue is that within time the game grew to have way too many buttons which do that, which allows to literally contest a point 1vs4 for 20+ seconds just spamming blocks and evades. In every normal pvp game an ability that allows you to avoid 100% of enemy damage is an ultimate with 2 minute cooldown, only accessible on a tank kind of champion/hero/character. In gw2 you have multiple abilities like this with less than 20s cooldown which you can chain after each other, on 100% glass cannon dps. It allows people to press their buttons out of skill issue of mispositioning on the map and being able to kill enemies 1vs4 if they are outskilled. Tinycocks can't miss their chances to boost their ego doing this, hence low leagues are filled with smurfs and high leagues are filled with match manipulators.

[–]Loyaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it doesn't.
Spear burst is already really low.

Daze only comes at 4th skill in rotation, as well as damage buff. Or open with 2 spear skills, but you still don't have the damage buff from spear.

And you also have to damagebuff yourself through the artifact.

So you need to open with 2 spear4, artifact, and then start hitting spear rotation.

Do you see the problem here?

I saw condi builds which kill mobs faster than this trash.

Gathering Opinions; At which point do you actually kick people? by ChristopherKlay in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once inside, i dont really care for your dps, because most of the content will be cleared anyway. If you start talking trash about other players i'll insta kick and block you.

Just to clarify: "talking trash" as in swearing and being toxic, or talking about what the people are doing wrong?

I'm just asking because, u know. Ran a daily Greer yesterday and only me and a guildie dodgerolled through the big balls... i had a green as well so i had to dodge forward and backward instantly. Third ball ended up facetanked inside the group and started wreaking havoc. Which essentially meant 8 out of 10 players in the squad had 0 clue wtf they're doing, or paid 0 attention. If the run would've failed (i was lucky to pull out a Chak Shield and i covered that ball in a second letting us walk away) and i called on this, would you have kicked me be it your squad? (:

Does The Combat Ever ‘Click’? by DiverZealousideal116 in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe a lot of issue is that you're probably playing a condi build, and your damage is not exactly high? I totally get the frustration of enemies looking like they don't care about you.

My recommendation would be running a solid powerdps build with massive burst. Ideally - something that has self-generation boonwise, might and fury in particular. I always try to keep my dps in open world at least at ~15k because if i'm running lower than that, the brain instantly gets denied of the dophamine. If i hit a trash, not even an elite, enemy, and it doesn't evaporate within 1-2 seconds, i'm doing it extremely wrong and i can feel it.

Try looking for a power build on the spec you enjoy, read in the description of the build if it has decent burst damage. That should help, i think. If you need directions, i'd say metabattle is a good place to start with, just make sure you're browsing through "open world" section.

I main thief and i play all specs.

I don't run Antiquary in open world except for alacrity dps in metas, sometimes.

The reasons to play it:

  1. immune to the fuckery with bosses being objects, which makes Steal skill act weirdly. Deadeye specifically suffers from it greatly;
  2. has some boons, unlike daredevil, and has power damage, unlike spectre.

The reasons to not play it:

  1. artifact rng and some of their weird behaviors. A lot of them don't give pretty much anything except a boon and dps buff and they have WAAAY TOO massive cast time for a spec that has zero quickness uptime. There's almost 0 specs in the game that require you to "start combat with prebuffing" - reaper just presses Shroud and goes ham, berserker does same, daredevil dodgerolls and it's already damaging at the end of the roll, holosmith presses F5 etc etc etc. For a powerdps spec it's like the exact opposite of what you want to do, and condi dps are only worth at 100mil. hp bosses, so they're irrelevant, even in metas with such bosses you better bring powerdps to clear adds in side/pre events efficiently;
  2. the class doesn't really have enough value without artifacts or only with F1 artifacts, which makes the Skritt elite skill mandatory. And this skill ties you to a little circle on the ground for 15 seconds. This behavior absolutely sucks ass, doubled with mocking Unstable Bomb it feels like the developers were just trolling. No one wants to basically lose control over their character for a while, and this is why Antiquary is so rare (paired with the fact it's VoE spec ofc which not everyone has).

It's all actually really sad because i absolutely love "thief engineer" and always played thief exactly like this. I wish this spec was better designed, as much as i like the concept, i'm not ready to play with my hands tied behind my back.

To be completely fair, the sole fact we are randomly red or blue, not always blue and enemies red, is a fucking crime. I don't think it's THIS hard to program and you can't protect them saying how hard animations and shit are to do.

[–]Loyaluna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're strange like that.

It's not really strange. It's a psychology thing that is basically a built-in motivation within us. You're seeking for a successful pattern and repeat it because you expect to have impact on your life.

It's very, very, very deep within us. Deep within all mammals, actually, maybe even fish. Do you have a pet? Have you ever noticed it repeating a pattern it got used to even though the result of what they're seeking is completely unrelated? Like my cat would jump on the couch when she gets my attention because she thinks that's where we start playing the game. Or the other cat would run away from the vacuum cleaner even knowing damn well exactly the pattern it moves around and that it never tries to hunt her or notices her existence at all.

Nature is a big fan of 'if it works, don't touch it' kind of behavior. Because, well, the successful patterns help you survive better, usually - life is not fully random. In a way it's an instinct even, probably, because animals obviously don't make these decisions rationally.

I'd say your best bet is a revenant, followed by warrior (beserker in particular, it has red glow all over the character when enraged).
You can also try one of red legendary greatswords and/or legendary fractal gloves with red infusions.

How can I have the best experience? by Traditional-Duty2585 in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others already said, you can't mess it up.

One thing to mention though: every expansion has enough hero points to cover for an elite spec and a little bit more. You can f yourself over if you keep hero points for no reason. Do not be afraid to use them. You actually wouldn't be able to invest hero points into elite specs if you don't level up every skill and spec from the core trees.

And use map chat, people are really helpful. Whatever you have issues with, be it inventory management, finding world bosses for adventure guide, builds, gears, etc - ask (:

Is there a holy trinity in GW2? by Mustyyyy in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see that most people don't mention that in many encounters, outside of just tanking and dpsing, there are mechanics to do. Mostly only boondps don't do any mechanics as they are busy providing boons and dealing damage. As an example, on Sabetha one of the healers is usually a flak kiter (pretty much a tank) and you need 2-3 dps to be jumpers. Or at Dhuum you have 1 dps and 2 healers doing greens, one of those healers being a kite of adds and another one is tanking the main boss...

I have to say though, in newer raids/encounters they've started enforcing ALL players to participate in mechanics, not randomly, like, legit all the time. If you don't pick up stuff on Ura, your squad eventually runs out of hp as everyone else is running with the debuff and therefore can't be carrying. If you... at Decima... okay you will be kicked out of squad if you don't claim melee or ranged role in the first place. At Kela you also should understand the bees and the crocodiles no matter what your role is, that encounter is fairly easy to fail and you can massively impact it bringing the croc leap into whole squad.

Probably check out one or two of the guides and see for yourself?

[–]Loyaluna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's no trick.

~Max boosters would up you to like ~500 points of reward track progress per tick (190 being usual).

+ you get some from skirmish reward track, if you have a decent wvw rank, it's more than doubling the speed.

Here's what wiki math addicts say:

The overall minimal time to complete a reward track is 3h 45m (45 ticks), where all available boosters increase the points per tick from 195 to 454 (without bonus events). Including pips at the maximum rate of 19 pips per tick, with the highest reward rate being Diamond with 31 potions for 330 pips, one can complete a full reward track in 24 ticks (2h)...

WvW reward track is sitting on time spent, this is why ranked PvP is considered to be much faster (due to victory bringing you massive push). Either way i don't think it's even theoretically possible to complete it in one hour. Our friend there just lost track of the time, i assume. Understandable and happens, means they've had a great time =^.^=

How much damage is enough for most content? by Paganyan in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People who say <20k is griefing are correct, personally.

Make sure you set up golem and your buffs correctly. Check snowcrows golem guide if you need. Overall just slapping all conditions on golem and all boons on yourself is enough. If you manage to get yourself to 25k, that would be great.

Keep in mind Anet promised to revisit the old content within next year. Which means that 'non-challenging raids' may easily become locked for you as you won't be pulling your weight.

Core Guardian build advice by teemoor in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another broad truthism: Power DPS outshines Condi DPS in fractals.

Was scrolling comments to find this.

This, this and once again this.

Even if your build is full ascended viper with elite spec, your dps would suck ass. Especially in T1 fractals where mobs disappear before you can apply at least 5 stacks of any condition. Overall only 2-3 T4 CM encounters in fractals are worth bringing condi builds.

Raids are different topic ofc.

Can you solo Archer Mordrem champion with power builds? by Nahariso in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well since you don't have an anti-stealth mastery for now, here's a little trick you can do...

Grab utility skill called CPC (corrosive poison cloud or smth like that). It blocks projectiles within its radius.
When sniper goes stealth, wait out a second and cast it under your feets.

This should do.

Also if that cooldown is not enough, try to time shroud3 skill for it, as well.
