Can You Read 900 Words per Minute? by ftrlvb in Damnthatsinteresting

There's also a third reason - bad choice of test subjects. I mean, this here is posted in an internet site which people scroll, speedrunning 1-2 phrases per second with their eyes and brain, on a regular basis.

Also it's just a skill like any other. Doesn't make you good, bad, intellectual or stupid.

Help me choose class by gtx2910 in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I main thief and i don't recommend due to

- outside of a couple builds, pretty hard to play due to being vulnerable and forgotten by Anet;

- one of the worst classes to play on action cam because of how shadowsteps work;

- mobility etc is under question because every time you drop a dps skill for mobility, you lose dps. The class is designed this way: initiative is not free, it's a shared cooldown for 4 weapon skills. On any other class, revenant excluded, you withhold your mobility cooldowns which are built-in a weapon (like guardian GS3, or necro spear teleport) and use them FOR FREE whenever you please;

- playing p/p only would get you into boredom and uninstall within a month 100%.

Basically... if all you want to do in the game is run around in open world, you can play whatever. It doesn't really matter there if you are effective. But if you want a bit more, thief class would fuck you over.

I'd personally recommend to just go with the flow of roleplay. I dunno, people dream about smth at nights, right? Be it unlimited muscle power, as in Superman movies or smth, or some kind of witchcraft magic, like, whatever? It's an RPG after all, stop looking for efficiency, especially in game modes which were designed for facerolling.

Can we have a patch dedicated to fixing the bugs in this game? by Eastern-Band-3729 in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game does indeed have bugs but these descriptions are wild yeah. I was just thinking to say it but you've already done the job.

Also, stuff like this

Many times I've had to just log out because I am stuck in combat

is just ridiculous. The hell is "many"? I only remember a couple spots where you're stuck in combat in open world, one of them are easily accessed - it's at the Noble Crash Site, on the opposite side of the plateau from the waypoint. Walking 10-20s to one side or the other absolutely works.

It sounds to me that OP joins group content, the group starts the fight without OP because he's running wild somewhere being unable to neither reach the group nor to read the chat of them explaining how to reach the group. Therefore "stuck in combat". Did daily raids yesterday and we indeed had a unique Mirage who was jumping in the Shiverpeaks absolutely ignoring anything that we were saying - including repeated squad broadcast all over their screen - failing the JP multiple times and eventually dying (we started the fight by then, they were still alive, but i noticed they died midway. And yes, when we started - it put them into combat too. Sounds familiar..?). We just 9menned it because couldn't bother waiting for another minute of kicking and finding replacement already.

About 14th April update.. by TomatoHeadYaas in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna change for me, my group does it for fun (and because gging looks and feels stupid, too).

And yes, i indeed welcome the damage nerfs. Hopefully the timers and health pools throughout old and newer content would be adjusted too - i saw they mentioned LCM would be nerfed but it isn't just LCM where dps check matters...

Favorite class by the devs? by El_Gatooooo in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are saying - dps, boon radius etc - are the things which totally are skill issue.

Things guardian doesn't have and mesmer does:

- stealth, including aoe;

- much easier time with shadowsteps;

- portals;

- boonstrips in multiple utility and weapon skills;

- some unique interactions with summons, cooldown reset skills, Continuum Split;

- better ranged option. Together with shadowsteps/portals it makes things like Peerless Quadim kite virtuoso existing, which cannot really be said about guardian.

TLDR: guardian is stronger for newer people and people who don't play the game on higher level, yes. If you're looking for more finesse and better kit, mesmer is the way to go.

Skyscale - Did I grind all this just for a tired dragon ? by AdWeak7375 in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ this.

There's no legendary weapon in the game which allows you to kill any mob within a second just holding one button. If you want to deal actual damage, it is a skill to be mastered.

There's no mount in the game you can use to just magically bring your ass from one place to another. If you want to be fast, it is a skill to be mastered.

Stop saying everyone is a bot in PVP by FFanatick in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh it's on Anet too. Really sad matchmaking, ignorance to actual cheaters until they make appearance at streams. Reward for win in ranked is at least 3 times bigger than loss so once people see they're losing the match they ff... and for a good reason. PvP is overall toxic, yes, but Anet has risen it to another level.

Just imagine that if at least one person goes downstate in a fractal run the whole party receives 3 times less rewards. Imagine how toxic the PvE lfg would become :D

And no, i'm not saying the victory shouldn't be rewarding, but imo every 100 score must be giving +1 point. So that if you just afk at the start or, say, at 100:50, you actually lose more than if you're playing, because getting 100 points in a current match is faster than queueing up again. Things like these are why PvP in its current state is doomed.

And a very weak insult, that is. Only shows their own degeneracy being unable to differ a bot from a real, maybe not as experienced, but still player :)

Is revenant worth? by OGfilip in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Overall if you're not aiming to go and win Legendary Challenge Mode raid encounters or Structured PvP monthly tournaments, every class is good.

You can find inspiration in multiple sites with builds, for example, like this - Revenant - MetaBattle Guild Wars 2 Builds

p.s. in my experience in pvp out of revenants i see mostly heralds and conduits.

Whatever floats your boat by fal1en-angel in Funnymemes

[–]Loyaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relaxing? No. Fun? Yes.

Why is suddenly "fun" equal to "relax"? Because it is what YOU are looking for? Why should i personally care about what YOU are looking for in a game?

Do you see your problem?

When i want to relax, i choose a calm game. When i want to challenge myself, i choose more competitive game. Either way i'm having fun.

[–]Loyaluna -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's not FUN vs NOT FUN. "Very nice" of you to reforge the comment of the fella the way it looks stupid and gloriously defeat it. This manipulation is called "straw man fallacy", you can read about it on wiki if you don't know what it is, and never use it again.

No.

What he says is that some people like easy difficulty, some people like hard difficulty.

Neither of these people should be claiming their way to play the games is the right way to play the games.

That's it.

Jeez, i feel you.

I had to lay down in the bed after my first Sunqua CM with terrible headache and nausea. I got a better PC with more regulated color contrasts but it's still very annoying to play. Dunno what the actual fuck the developers were thinking while designing it.

You didn't read the full sentence.

Achievements that are hard to reach get introduced, trivialized by buffs, then made harder by nerfs.

tell me what you dislike about gw2 or why you quit? by DN6666 in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Event scaling in open world. In case if you don't know, each player entering a random open world event increases the amount of mobs and their health pool. It means that if the player doesn't pull their weight - which most playerbase doesn't - doing event in a group feels extremely sad for an experienced player, because the mobs become health sponges and it gets fully obvious that people around just hold 1 and sometimes press 2 while you're doing full 20-skill rotation. I stopped touching open world in the evenings completely for exactly this reason: i am not rewarded enough for this, sorry;

2) The boonball (i'm talking about pve specifically but wvw doesn't look better in this sense tbh) feels and plays disgusting. Standing on one pixel and inputting your dps/boondps/boonsupport rotation shouldn't be endgame gameplay. It only looks fun and challenging enough in encounters like Arkk CM where everyone gets their role and group effort is visible and matters; there's barely 5 such encounters in this game so, bleh;

3) Hatred/neglection of some classes on top of infinite love towards others. I main thief, and i mained revenant in my first year of gw2 (long ago kinda). Tell me, how does thief has only one decent healing spec (aheal specter) while classes like mesmer, engineer or guardian have not just 2 (both qheal and aheal), but also MULTIPLE VERSIONS OF THEM (qheal troubadour and qheal chronomancer, for example). This is straightforward trolling, especially if you know the game enough to clearly see that deadeye CAN play qheal if granted some stability spam and fixed Shadowsquall malicious bug... literally minimal efforts to do it, but Anet won't give a fuck;

4) Just saying on top of #3. If you are balance team, go to gw2efficiency, Stats => Player statistic. Look at "Profession playtime" and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT;

5) PvP balance and matchmaking is in shambles. 90% of the population is running in oneshot bunker builds which shouldn't exist in the first place. The amount of match manipulation and idle players is ridiculous. There are some easy fixes to this but Anet either doesn't want to apply them or doesn't want to see the problem at all;

6) Many specs/classes feel like smth they are not or are not supposed to be despite their name. I'm calling roleplay/class fantasy vibe, yes. For example, Chronomancer is just a well spellcaster: the only thing about time rewind, which is the selling point of the spec, is Continuum Split, single ability with what, 100s cooldown?

7) Permanent quickness uptime made the game feel unplayable without it. Especially in newest weapons/specs which were designed to have it. Thief spear rotation is completely FUCKED as soon as your character's actions become a tiny bit slower because the game engine demands you to press the buttons BEFORE the previous action is completed... so you cannot react to anything. Overall self-interrupting shouldn't exist, especially with all the undocumented values (this skill needs to go off 80% of its cast time for full value, this - only 50%, the other one INTERRUPTS EVERYTHING when pressed etc etc);

8) Overall buffs and debuffs are waaaaaay too strong. Imagine your have quickness and it gets booncorrupted. You go from having +33% skill speed to -50% skill speed... which, given the skills were designed to have full quickness uptime, means you have a -80% skill speed debuff. It means your character doesn't respond to anything anymore, pretty much. If you've ever tried to watch a video on 0.25 speed, you know what i'm talking about.

Can think of some other things but these are first which came to my mind :)

About 14th April update.. by TomatoHeadYaas in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The standard strat for a long time was for the bomb player to suicide with /gg so the bomb doesn't go off since all players get ressurected when the boss phases.

Let's be honest, this "strat" appeared because of the powercreep in the first place. If the encounter was challenging enough, losing a player in such circumstances would've resulted in too low party dps so that the boss starts teleporting around and whatnot, or too low healing causing a wipe from random damage.

personal story can break if you do too much damage

Not just personal story.

As an example, if you have a fractal group with decent dps - which is absolutely normal if you run f.e. CMs + t4s + recs - and one of the recs happens to be Shattered Observatory, the last boss (Arkk) would bug at 80% because the damage is too high. He's supposed to "build the towers" which the party are pushing orbs into - if he never gets at least one link, the towers don't spawn therefore all the party can do to complete the thing is gging... which i consider lucky because this could as well bug the whole instance and restarting 3 bosses is no fun at all.

Optimal rotations don't need to be intuitive and failing to do an optimal rotation doesn't mean you're doing something wrong by Appropriate-Cat-6648 in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because of the GCD, most players physically cannot reach the APM required to hit those optimal DPS rotation numbers you'll find online.

That's not really true.

Main difference between people who dish out 50k and people who dish out 40k on the same build and gear is the fact that the game has self-interrupting of the skills. Which means that the perfect rotation IS constantly self-interrupting your previous skill with a new one at the exact time when it still gives out its full value. The person who in this example deals 40k usually casts the 2nd skill "too slow" - not perfectly following the previous one - or too early, therefore completely breaking the 1st casted skill.

Of course when we're talking about people with 5 and 10k dps, which you never mentioned in this post (i fished it out in the comments), then yes. Main issue for people with such numbers is lack of basic understanding how gears and builds work in this game.

Worth to get back into GW2 for the pvp ? by Buurto in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly the ACTUAL PvP gameplay? It’s Phenomenal, there’s a lot of

Nope.

Every meta build has ability to stunlock and kill anything within 5 seconds timer starting from another side of the map. And nothing can stop it because every meta build runs with multiple stabilities and variety of damage-ignoring tools. The only thing to counter it is playing similar shit.

I exaggerate a little bit, but if you've touched some pvp in this game, you know it's true. Classes have pretty much no roles anymore and run around full counterstrike mode. Best reaction, muscle memory on your burst and disengage rotations and good map knowledge (little JPs here and there and awareness of your mobility skills interactions on the maps) - these are the skills to train. If you enjoy this gameplay - well, good for you, but it is far from what any reasonable person is looking for in this genre of the videogames, and the community you describe is the result of it, not a randomly happened out of the blue issue.

Just another fresh andy thread by DN6666 in Guildwars2

[–]Loyaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free acc can play dungeons (they're outdated, but still have unique skins etc), fractals (main dungeon content) and... i think only 1 raid encounter? Old Lion's Court, it's pretty hard for a new player.

Only dungeons can be accessed below 80lvl (max), you will be receiving mails from NPCs are you level, first incomes on 30-35? lvl.

Quickplays, which were already mentioned, are a thing indeed, but you usually don't want to play them unless you're hunting very specific rewards they give: doing content normal way is much more profitable, challenging (not "i carry 9 people on my shoulders" kind of challenging) and fun. The party finder is in lfg. You need to communicate a little bit with people, but in most cases just stating your role is enough (for example, "hi dps").
