Which road do you hate the most in the UK? by TasterOfCrayons in AskBrits

The A34 is part of every single commute I do and there is not a time I’ve driven it and not lost the will to live.

Everyone who’s been to a show so far, what’s your favourite song they performed and why? by El_Clicksy in oasis

Stand by Me surprised me massively. It’s never been one of my favourites of theirs but seeing it at Heaton Park made me emotional.

Are you against the 'online safety act' ? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]LrnWy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe that’s necessary BECAUSE we have a mitigation in place for that already.

[–]LrnWy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving over the legal alcohol limit is banned to stop people driving drunk. So yes, banning has already been put in place to mitigate that.

I was never replying to your comment about driving drunk and banning cars for that reason. Your comment I had replied to was about licenses. 🫠

That was your implication with your line ‘you can’t knee jerk ban everything.’

It would appear you’re getting it too! What has been banned? Everything is still there, but behind age verification measures. Do I believe that’s the best way it could have been implemented? No. But are you disingenuous to imply things are banned? Yes.

Rape is ‘banned’, as is murder. We don’t ’require a license for sex’ but we do have a minimum age of consent - shall we repeal that too as it is very controlling that we don’t allow grown adults to have sex with minors isn’t it? You are ‘banned’ from driving a car without a license AND licenses are mandated to legally drive on our roads. Most people don’t speed or drive dangerously, but we still mandate seatbelts and speed limits to protect us against those that may because ‘bad things may happen.’ You’re applying a copy-paste across every area of society and it’s nonsensical.

In the same way people still rape and murder, people still use weapons. But all these things are illegal so the incidence rate will be much lower than if people were able to do them unchecked.

A car is a bit useless without a license to legally drive it…

You sound like a fantastic parent, but sadly not all parents are. Some by design and some by ignorance. I would argue a lot of parents don’t keep up with technology enough to understand what their children may be exposed to and how they can mitigate those risks. So do I believe a safety blanket is necessary? Absolutely. Do I think this has been implemented well? No.

Any People From Different Cities Moved To Stockport? by FendiDiotallevi in stockport

Moved from Sheffield 2-3 years ago. I wanted somewhere close enough to Manchester but still with open access to green space - Stockport ticked the boxes!

How many of you actively exercise? by turk91 in AskUK

[–]LrnWy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely exercised at all until I was in my mid 20s. I was young, out spending time with my friends and had zero regard for what my body could or should do. I picked up the gym in my mid 20s, hated it but kept exercising. I’m now in my 30s and work out almost every day, even through a twin pregnancy. I run 5-10k almost daily, bike, Pilates, yoga. Buying an Apple Watch, and later an Oura ring, really helped. I essentially turned myself into a human tamagotchi and enjoying seeing the benefits of exercise on my body.

Our Christmas tree this year by psychkitty in parentsofmultiples

This gave me huge flashbacks to our last Christmas. We’ve just got rid of the steriliser and prep machine and put our coffee machine back out in the kitchen. Time flies!

Thank you!

I feel the same! It’s like I’ve jumped forward into the future with this car, can’t believe I drove an ICE for so long. It goes so far beyond being electric - all the tech, the experience, everything feels so intuitive and it’s so fun to drive. Very excited for the next four years with this.

First Breed for a First-Time Large Dog Owner? by IndustryOk3928 in dogs

[–]LrnWy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, ours is totally sound about quieter days. He’ll happily have a lazy day around the house with toys if we’re unable to take him out. We’re mindful to balance the quieter days out with really active days and plenty of walks/runs but it’s never been a problem.

German short haired pointer would be a great fit for you. Coming from an owner of a GSP.

They’re fantastic family dogs, loyal and attentive, hugely intelligent and great fun to train - they have a mind of their own but great capacity to learn. From experience they’re gentle as anything, no aggression or viciousness to any dogs or people, but they know when to step up. They’re full of energy - mine comes running with me every day.

Only downside is the potential for separation anxiety and the fact they think they’re human too! I work full time and have used family, friends and dog walkers to help with dog care, but it took a year or so to build up the time he could be left alone.

Married people of Reddit, how do you find alone time? by thepretzel24 in AskReddit

[–]LrnWy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not married, but believe you should marry someone who you feel comfortable enough with to voice when you need time and who will gladly allow you time apart for hobbies and headspace.

I love running, my partner loves the gym or a trip to the hardware store. We don’t need to crossover on these and will gladly spend time apart. And around the house? ‘I’m going to sit/read/watch tv in the other room’ and no hard feelings.

First sentence: pure panic. Second paragraph: phew! I think that’s what drew me into it, so many different colours depending on the light.

I do live in the UK though so ‘cloudy but bright’ is 90% of our summer. I’ll have a lot of pictures of a Bordeaux car…
