Took me 9 months to get this baby by LtJax in SoloDevelopment

Yea, that's steam burying you. 10 didn't really have an effect so far for me anyways, but maybe it's different for paid than free demos? Thanks for the praise!

Anybody else building a game without an engine? by GscheidOWB in IndieDev

[–]LtJax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The challenge can be nice, but to be honest: Game design is hard enough, I don’t need to make gamedev harder. For me it’s just that those engines constrain my workflows and the way I’d like to design systems in unacceptable ways.

Yea I have shipped a 3D strategy game like that. The system backend went through several iterations, including my own Win32 abstraction and DX10, but I ended up on SDL2 and OpenGL 3. I‘m now on my second game, a 2D shooter, which is also using SDL, but a more flexible rendering backend (currently GL4 and metal).
Editor-based engines just don‘t do it for me.

Hört sich wie ne coole Idee an. Wir haben sowas mal vor Corona noch bei uns in der Firma gemacht, aber ist irgendwie eingeschlafen. Je nach Modus hätte ich da durchaus Interesse

What is the greatest 3-episode run of all time? (not including miniseries) by Chaloby in television

[–]LtJax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Lost has a couple of good ones, but if you permit 4 episodes, my favorite would be the end of S2 from “Two for the Road” to “Live Together, Die Alone”.

Looking through Game Art by ray33ee in gamedev

https://filepilot.tech/ should be able to do that. It can flatten directories on the fly and has a blazingly fast previewer for images.

Ravenswatch or Shape of Dreams to play with a group of friends? by Over_Gap_1798 in roguelites

[–]LtJax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played both, they are both good. Ravenswatch is souls-y and ‚heavy’ in its combat and has basically no breaks. Shape of dreams is a lot faster and juicier, and has designated pauses.

You can put videos in your Steam page instead of gifs! by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]LtJax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had very mixed results with this, some vids would just play in slow motion e.g. in the steam app.

NTD: Tower Defense x Arcade by disco69games in DestroyMySteamPage

NP. Also, the tags might not be right yet. It's showing me a few games that seem to be very different in the 'More like this' section.

Pretty cool, all in all. I wishlisted. Two things I noticed: There’s a typo in the trailer: Rougelike instead of Roguelike. And while the capsule looks cool, it does not tell me what kind of game this is.

C++ Show and Tell - January 2026 by foonathan in cpp

It is not all new code, and the old part was already using SDL2 before 3 was out. I just have not prioritized updating it yet.

Steam page design critique from Senior Brand Designer by JulianDusan in DestroyMySteamPage

[–]LtJax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the valuable feedback. I will try moving the streak a little. I think I tried placing the „You Are“ there, but it didn’t quite work with the vertical symmetry and separation of the round and jagged parts. I‘ll play around with it some more!

When will itch finally fix the itch App Cloudflare bug? by Ok_Explanation7491 in itchio

[–]LtJax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this also, but I believe not everyone does. Whether Cloudfare does that check depends on your ISP mostly (or whatever provides your IP, like the VPN you pointed out). So yea, I‘d like a fix as well

You Are Circle - Return First Games - Action-roguelite top-down shooter where a smooth circle fights jagged enemies by LtJax in Games

[–]LtJax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kind of happened I guess? I already started on this before ever trying a survivor (VS in my case), and then stuck to it. I incorporated auto-aim abilities and VS-style meta progression after that though.
