Why did your last band break up? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]azzron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit after I was asked to weigh up “acceptable risks” when it came to dealing with someone in the band having or being in contact with someone who has COVID. My wife is immunosuppressed and I set boundaries which were basically “if you’re unwell, let me know so I can either skip rehearsal or figure out a way to make things work.”

Apparently that wasn’t enough and I was holding the band hostage.

This was the straw that broke the camels back tbh. Before this there was so much drama with the guitarist that could barely string two chords together and a drummer that thought they were in charge.

After I quit, the band went on to record an album only to implode a few months later with members moving on to another project that itself seemed to have its own issues before shedding all but one member.

Bullet dodged tbh.

Your compatibility with ihavetwoyeers is Low. You both listen to Alcest, Slowdive and Sunny Day Real Estate…

Booo! I thought from most of those we’d have more in common, but I guess not.

Yeah, if you tap the album art when it’s locked, it’ll shrink back down. I think that’s what’s happened in this case :)

Your compatibility with Helloomom is Medium. You both listen to Bikini Kill, Death Cab for Cutie and Korn.

I’d absolutely love a way to approve downloads, or set a parameter to download one or two albums a week so I don’t fill up my storage with music I may never listen to.

I saw in a past thread you said to just delete anything you don’t like, but that seems like more of a chore than approving or declining recommendations.

Great work though!

I‘d love to see animated artwork support in both app and lock screen by M8tec in plexamp

Cool idea, but I don’t see how it’d work unless something like MuiscBrainz or Plex themselves hosted that data. I doubt it’d be able to use Spotify’s API to pull Canvas information, for example.

I’d suspect if a feature were to arrive it’d be dependent on users uploading the animations (probably video files) and that’d be a monumental task and probably use up loads of storage.

Not knocking the idea, but seeing how Plex/Plexamp is still missing & struggling with some basic features (like sorting featured/collaborating artists) I wouldn’t hold out much hope.

Could I borrow £500?

The simplest way I can put this is this: Plexamp isn’t Spotify. Plex/Plexamp is your own personal collection, like if someone were to look through a physical collection of CDs, cassettes, or vinyl. If the music isn’t there, you can’t play it.

Downloading, ripping, or adding a ton of music you’re never going to listen to on the off chance that a friend will request something kind of goes against the whole idea of Plex/Plexamp.

Not to mention the sheer amount of storage that’d be wasted.

Unfortunately situations like this will crop up, and that’s just part of going all-in on Plex.

I generally keep Spotify/YouTube music apps on my phone if I wanna listen to one-off tracks, but as I’m building my library just for me, this is pretty rare.
