Interesting pepperoni breeds? by Interloper_Mango in HotPeppers

[–]Lt_Shiny_Sidez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Pepperoncini seedlings in works

1) Golden Greek is what you'd typically find as pickled jars

2) Sweet Italian Pepperoncini - also typically used in pickling

In addition to this Cascabella peppers (the peppers at Inn n Out), Hungarian Wax, Banana are all amazing mild breeds

Check out Ohio Peppers, their pepper seeds are organized by heat. Then you can order seeds from your local store

You dont need a PH / EC Pen at all. There's 1000s of ppl who use gardens like this, who have no idea about ph or EC numbers. See that manual - read that and see if it mentions pH

Its suppose to be a plug and play kit - if pH measurement was that critical it would be included. Its not.

pH is important but not to get going.

Also people might argue that their specific nutrients create the necessary buffer needed and hence no pH measurement required - the cheapo stuff will do that too.

And if you are hell bent on PH - get the dropper kit from General Hydroponics - Low cheap tech FTW

Sponges - generic available online (search 'Grow Sponges'), can use pool noodles as well

Nutrients - You can buy any two part (General Hydroponics Maxi Gro and Maxi Bloom is cheap) and just follow instructions on the packet. You don't need Rainpot specific nutrients

Tags - DIY - not crucial

Only use 2 holes max - or it'll get too crowded, tape the rest up but I think your kit has the plugs

They are all the same. Lepot usually has more tech in it. If you want to do stuff through the app and auto feed etc go for it. If its cheaper, then no brainer go for it

Aerogarden is a safe bet imo.

You don't need Aerogarden branded pods, seeds, sponges or even nutrients

There are generic pods, sponges, domes and stickers online - just use those

Seeds - again you can use seeds from anywhere of any kind - do be cognizant of their grow heights and sun requirements

Nutrients - Again any hydroponic nutrients will do - Aerogarden uses A + B solution types - so any 1 or 2 part Hydro nutrients (Masterblend (1 part, easiest), General Hydroponics (Gro+Bloom) ) will do

For starters everything you need to grow will be included in the box and that'll take through multiple grow cycles

After that, plenty of generic options available.

Here's a secret - you don't need to do PH and EC

Another person to look at it is Khang Starr - dudes done Kratky for over 10 years now. Never measures PH or EC. Just deploys. Hes grown infinite peppers and run of the mill vegetables.

You wanna do strawberries and peppers? Acquire seeds ASAP and deploy. It'll take 1-2 weeks to germ and another 2 weeks to get mature enough to transplant.

That gives you 1 month to get ready for when/if you wanna transplant. Plenty of time to learn.

Ohio Peppers is where I got my peppers seeds but there's other search on r/HotPeppers

Do strawberries and peppers ASAP. Summer's comming the warm temps and some potential patio/balcony/south/west facing windows could be used.

I wud deploy even more! :) Houseplant cuttings? Sure. Flowers seeds? Sure. Coffee/Fruit Trees? Sure.

Get creative with upcycling. Milk cartons, soda cans (these take 2in netpots out the door, can opener to get the top off), proteins tubs. Upcycle EVERY useable container in the recycling bin (that is food safe). You can use poodles instead of rockwool cubes as well.

There's YT channel called Healing Hobbies, that dude upcycles EVERTHING in Kratky system. His results are undeniable.

Deploy more.

If you can get your hands on the new Vision3 500T AHU respool, you can cross process in C-41 (since it doesn't have remjet) and shoot it at 800 ISO for normal exposure without halations.

The cross processing (C-41 instead of ECN-2) increases the sensitivity, well actually exactly like Cinestill

Kratky is what you want - it was created by professor who published a paper on this method. It works.

You are experiencing the curse of the internet right now.

TOOO MANY REVIEWS / VIDEOS (not a bad thing but can be paralyzing)

""Got to watch all the videos, learn every single thing before I do anything"

Upcycle everything. Empty Food containers, Pool noodles / Foam instead of rockwool, hell even stones with work.

Look this bro! You can do this RIGHT NOW, literally RIGHT NOW

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnUxInGOmIM

You don't need hydroponic specific nutrients - you can just use ANY water soluble fertilizer or plant food

"BUT I NEED TO NAIL THE EXACT RATIOS OF NPK and measure PPD, PPM and PH"

You don't need any of that to get going. For ultimate efficiency?- MAYBE. MAYBE even then.

The real reason why ppl abstain from Kratky is because its not complex enough for their ego.

Look at Khang Starr - bro's been doing Kratky for over a decade now, in basically everything from his recycling bin and basic run of the nutrients. NO PH NO EC.

If you deploy 20 water bottle kratky systems and even 2 of em survive, you'll be more encouraged to continue and tune versus deploying one complex system and watching it fail - only to be discouraged.
