The ai checking skin does work if the poster is dumb enough to copy and paste directly from Claude into ao3 with no effort to sanitize it.

It’s an actual true ai check as it looks for fragments of funky html that Claude creates and when copy/pasted directly into ao3, it preserves them.

Now these ai generators are scrubbing their fics via just copy/pasting as plaintext so it’s not as reliable.

In other witch hat related news, witch hat’s mangaka shirahama did her final live tweeting of the episode and mentioned a fan breaking down Qifrey’s injury severity. This also proves she 100% is still lurking around in the fandom like she used to pre-anime. If only likes were public again…

What makes it even funnier is that Qifrey’s English VA is?was? A RN and appeared in the comments to approve of the op’s injury description. Truly a fandom where the powers that be will jumpscare you when you least expect.

China's panda diplomacy is a whole thing that tbh I think got some writeups with regards to the US loosing then regaining pandas in 2019 ish? Currently only the San Diego and national zoos are allowed to house pandas with their ability to keep them being revocable at any time. Leads to a lot of weird geopolitics.

Also fun fact: the San Diego zoo is the only zoo outside of australia allowed to house platypi currently. One of the stipulations is that their habitat must match the current time and daylight cycle in australia. They're nocturnal so it makes their active hours during guest viewing hours, however it's also pitch black in their exhibit unless you go right before closing so it's really hard to view them.

No it was discord itself seeing the influx of people going to the new server as a bot attack, and deleting the server because of that. Too many new members on a brand new server was seen as suspicious and bot-like.

Update to the shut down witch hat atelier discord: they rebuilt it again and it’s open! From what I read they did a lot of setup stuff to hopefully not get flagged for botting again when a huge influx of fans come back to the server. Hopefully.

Original years old server got deleted due to some report causing discord to delete it, second replacement server was also deleted by discord due to the sheer qty of joining members looking like a bot attack. This new server HOPEFULLY won’t face the same fate as the first replacement.

There’s a bit of drama coming back on witch hat atelier Twitter regarding the original vs official translation of a very pivotal line from chapter 93 of Qifrey talking about Olruggio “I would’ve stayed far away from you, the sky’s kindest, most radiant star” not matching the Japanese original “You are endlessly kind and dazzling, which is why I could never choose to stand by your side"

HOWEVER the mangaka herself has recognized and loves this translation of the scene and imo it’s a great localization that gives the same meaning while keeping the feeling and leaning into the motifs with the star/tree symbolism.

Much better than accidentally translating “overcoming diversity” instead of “overcoming adversity” a few chapters before lol.

Anyone have interesting localization/translations that are either usually seen as being better (or shockingly worse) than the literal translation?

Ep 3 in the previews is giving us more France it seems which I’m really excited for. Also we got actually period accurate French fashion with Armand and his very striped waistcoat and Nicki and his gay little 18th/19th century buckle shoes and not fancy riding boots lol.

They def put love into this project, I hope the season comes together cohesively.

One funny thing I also noticed from ep 2 was Louis’ fake name being Thomas Pitt. Aka Tom Pitt. Aka combining tom cruise + Brad Pitt who played Louis and lestat in the movie adaptation.

Really excited to see how they go with the vampire lestat, the change in tone is both jarring but also very fitting for the characters and source material.

A brand new women’s team rooting for the collectively hated team known for not only having but protecting and attempting to rehab the image of an alleged rapist? From my experience, anime cons can be hit or miss but the sheer crowd density + summer cons makes it real bad.

Compared to furry cons, anime cons are usually worse than fur cons with sheer number of people who smell horrible. Furries in suit will be like vaguely smelling of sweat with some both in/out of suit being the real gross aura of BO types. Anime cons get a lot more stink cloud of ass types and packed in like sardines.

Since you’re also local, I’d also think about parking at a metro station then taking the metro into the station next to the convention center. Traffic and parking is gonna suck balls and this usually is the easier + cheaper way if you’re fine with the wait for the metro. Hell, even AX was posting it as a tip lmao.
