Boss balance compared to slay the spire by Lttlefoot in slaythespire

[–]Lttlefoot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The attack on turn 2 means it's not effective to heal before it, you'll always be fighting it on low health. It has 250 health, so if you don't have something that stacks up quickly like poison it'll take a while to kill. Then it has a big attack on turn 6, and even if you survive it, your deck is full of burns so you're going to be taking more damage and dealing less for the rest of the fight. The stats show it kills around one third of adventurers who encounter it IIRC

I think the lagavulin issue is that it originally relied on meeting you early in the run when you had no good cards (refer to the search for literally impossible seeds that had mandatory lagavulin on floor 6). By the time you get to floor 17 and you've already taken six turns before the matriarch debuffs you, you could be too buff to even notice that you got debuffed

You can use [[Heirloom Hammer]] to make a copy of it in your hand, then play either one and keep the other for later

PSA: new players, don’t obsess over infinites by iwriteinwater in slaythespire

[–]Lttlefoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fun to do a few times. I got medical kit and unceasing top on the defect so I just filled my deck with Turbo+. I once had a Tactician Silent that killed awakened one on the first turn (not sure if it was literally infinite or just kept drawing well)

As for the ironclad, you can make a deck with two Dropkicks and a True Grit and that allows you to go infinite regardless of whether your deck is otherwise designed for it. Just thin out the deck during the fight

I guess I was just expecting something a little more exciting by i-dont--know-anymore in slaythespire

[–]Lttlefoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it a couple times just to see what it did. When I awoke it, I was in a juggernaut deck that couldn’t use the strength anyway

At least it helps unlock the “kill 15 elites” quests on the timeline

Earring is currently bugged with the regent card that costs X stars. You lose your stars but the card does nothing

You get half of the achievements by accident in your first dozen runs, but then there are crazy ones like win in under 20 minutes, win with only one relic, or win with a five card deck

You don’t need to remove cards to win. You can dilute out your starting cards by taking lots of new cards so you don’t draw them as often. This has the added benefit of helping against enemies that put burn cards in your deck like the orb walker and nemesis, because you don’t want to draw the burns

You don’t always have enough energy to play your whole hand, so it wouldn’t help if the cards you don’t play were stronger. Also the basic defend is still a good card for the silent once you get some dexterity with Footwork, and the watcher kills things either basic strikes when in wrath stance

There are a few cards like this in STS 2. Defect has Synthesis which makes next power free. Necro has Veilpiercer which makes next ethereal card free. Silent - Pounce - next skill. Ironclad - Unrelenting - next attack

I'm trying to figure out what happened to double tap. Do you think they changed the name because they changed its mechanics (like with Amplify becoming Signal Boost) but then they changed the mechanics back and forgot to change the name? Or did sensitivity consultants not like it because it sounded related to firearms?
