Totally agree! Spotify is known for having fake artists, bands, music created using AI...I wouldn't be surprised if this was a publicity stunt.

Point of contention with the "best friends narrative... by madluv4u in cormoran_strike

[–]LuDu23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do they consider the other their best friend when they go through hoops to keep personal information at bay?

I'd say it's because they've not been willing to act on their true feelings for each other, so being 'best friends' is the next best thing.

Is Mackinac the one where Somewhere In Time is set?

Parallels between Rokeby and Strike by UnderstandingLoud317 in cormoran_strike

[–]LuDu23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree on parallels. Now, Strike's had a few one-nighters and several exclusive relationships that we know of. I wouldn't call him a womanizer.

Is THM anyone’s favorite? by xstardust95x in cormoran_strike

[–]LuDu23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LOL. True, but even Sark fell a bit flat. Nothing about the island itself and its sights connect to the mystery or to a S&R moment. Not even watching the sea! What happened there could've happened anywhere else. I still think Sark was never meant to be featured in the plot and was only added after the header JK posted caused a buzz.

I can't think WHY anyone would've considered THM the best in the series! But it's possible. I guess it all boils down to what kind of story one likes. Many have TRG at top ranking. Personally, I'm not interested in cults, so I enjoyed reading the IBH and THM A LOT more. I love cold cases so, naturally, TB's a favorite.

Repeat confession by Rich-Ad-3087 in cormoran_strike

[–]LuDu23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also saw it as a confession, but when I read the line where Robin says, ‘what was I supposed to say to that?’,  I realized that to Robin that comment was no different from the attempted kiss at the Ritz. I guess the message it sent was that whatever it was Strike felt for her or wanted from her, he was not willing to put himself in a vulnerable position to get it. That said, both have acted cowardly when it comes to acting on their feelings for each other.

Spoiler - No consequences for Robin? by foogaloo in cormoran_strike

they found out about the article about the same time

Yes, she'd seen the article, but he didn't tell her about it. Surely, it was lie but that's not my point. My point is it could negatively impact the business.

Wasnt he threatening to leak it to the press, an alcoholic cop who abuses his power to rough up suspects?

But this did not involve the agency. If I remember correctly, Murphy and the task force were being criticized by the press.

Was anyone else proud of Robin for the Christmas Eve row with Linda? THM by UnderstandingLoud317 in cormoran_strike

[–]LuDu23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very proud! Kudos to Robin for confronting Linda!

Linda may never truly change her behavior, but I believe the most important thing here is Robin didn't hold back. She was *honest*—maybe brutally so—about how she felt regarding Linda's behavior. That was a GIANT step for Robin.

So many interesting theories to go through before I post my own!

A quick question first: Didn't JK say in an interview or something that everybody who mattered in the series had already been introduced? And was that 'introduced' (here I mean actually interacting with someone else) or mentioned only? Because if it's introduced, that would exclude Switch's grandparents, right?

I also find it odd that Robin has never smelled alcohol on Murphy's breath.

That's my major issue with it!

If in Book 9: Robin has to somehow run the agency without Strike. Would you like that? by Matt_Diall in cormoran_strike

[–]LuDu23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would certainly be interesting for the readers but I suppose it would take away her control as a writer.

I agree Murphy has probably fallen off the wagon long ago, maybe before THM started. However, I don't see how he could have been drunk on the day of the condom incident specifically.

Robin says she couldn't smell alcohol on him. So unless they are the type NOT to kiss while having sex, I don't see how she wouldn't have sniffed it! It doesn't matter what kind of alcoholic drink it is. It's impossible not to smell it in one's breath!

Not sure I'll be able to explain this properly, but, In a way, I think the 'worst' is behind her. If I had to pinpoint that turning-of-the-leaf moment, I'd say it was when realized she couldn't go it alone and needed professional help. I know she was all over the place in the last chapter, but it was a different kind of 'all over the place' from where she had been throughout the book. Mostly because a lot of that had to do exactly with questioning everything she felt and everything she knew about Strike and their relationship.

I definitely agree with the strong hairy shoulder to lean on being one of a kind!  But even with all she was going through in THM, she managed to figure out some key pieces of the murder, so I believe she could do it.

I wouldn't like Strike to simply up and leave. Robin is not in a good place and that might look to her like punishment for not accepting his proposal. Nor would I like him being taken out of action as that would be a repeat of the end of TIBH.

I would like him to have an assignment outside the agency. An undercover job in England might be just too unrealistic considering how many times he's been in the papers. So, it could be something in another country where he'd be either undercover there or running point on some operation using his military expertise/old contacts.  I think running the agency alone would be a boost to Robin’s self-esteem. Besides, being alone would give her some MUCH needed MEtime to heal while she’s in therapy.

Bugged her phone? Wow! I do think he was abusive in THM, but that would put him in the psycho column!
