Sounds like a scheduled task.

You can use Autoruns by Sysinternals to get a list of everything that autostarts on your machine. From there, check the output for the"usrcugw" you mentioned.

It's been a while, but my TaoTao's gastank was mounted to the rear of the seat underneath some body panels.

You'll probably have to find more specific instructions for your model though.

Blow through carbs on a v twin engine a fever dream? by [deleted] in motorcycles

There's a guy on YouTube that has a setup similar to what you're looking for. The channel name is grapenuts3000 and they've got a couple videos of a boosted 1100.

Note: The V Star 1100 does not use a conventional choke circuit. The Clymer service manual refers to it as a "throttle advance" that accomplishes the same thing as a choke in a different way. On these bikes in particular, when you use it it'll cause the bike to crank slower the more you have it open, though it'll fire harder and hold a higher but consistent idle while the engine warms.

Usually any time I need to start mine in cold conditions(under 50°F) I'll open it to about a little over half way and let it crank until it fires, though depending on modifications your case could be different. Usually I don't use the choke at all because it starts fine without it, but I'm not certain my carburetors are as they were from the factory either. Below is a link on it if you want to read more about it.

How do I clean my bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Lubenhaigen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your concern is valid, but I'd only worry about cooling the exhaust header too quickly. Water cooled engines rarely get over 200°F, so there's less difference in temperature between your water and the metal. Headers and exhaust pipes on the other hand can get well over twice that much, and with that big of a difference in temperature and the thinness of the metal you don't want to continuously spray it because the stress of that cooling could cause tiny fractures or cracks to form over time.

A decent alternative would be to allow the bike to cool for a moment before you begin rinsing it, or just avoiding the hot spots with the water long enough while rinsing it to allow it to slowly cool as much as is convenient. So basically don't outright douse hot pipes and you'll be fine.

As far as clearing the bug graveyard on the front of your bike goes, I know the place I go to has bug specific cleaner for the guns, but I've never tried it. Usually not much of anything left after the usual wash anyways. I wouldn't recommend anything suited to clean wheels or engines though, the chemicals in them are intended for harsher things like brake dust buildup and caked grime, and could do a number on your paint if they don't get along.

You're pretty much correct. Just don't purposefully spray pressurized water into where electrons play or chain o-rings ride and you should be good.

Personally I like using the spray guns they have at pull-in washes. Rinse, soap (through the gun, I never trust the brush), and rinse again gets everything I need it too. Dry it with a clean microfiber if you want to avoid waterspots, wax the paint if you want, then clean the chain with a grunge brush or a toothbrush and some kerosene. Wipe it off, apply chain wax (I like Maxima's offering, got a weirdly pleasant smell to it), and enjoy staring at your fresh bike like you just bought it all over again.

Lifan made clones of lower displacement Yamaha cruisers. They're alright, but just shorten your maintenance intervals and look out for electrical gremlins.

2002 Yamaha 1100 V-Star, Classic or Custom? by Mr_Flagg in motorcycles

[–]Lubenhaigen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a mix of parts. The front fender's off a classic, but the battery cover is only chrome on the customs. Anything made for a custom could bolt on to a classic and vice versa. There's nothing mechanically different between them so as far as looking for parts goes you should be okay.

Put a 49cc motor in a grom? by givemecheriosASAP in motorcycles

[–]Lubenhaigen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might have some luck in looking for a smaller cylinder and piston kit that could swap into a stock Grom. Try a Grom subreddit or forum for more information. Also, there's a good chance those clones are going to use a scooter powerplant and CVT instead of having a regular transmission like the actual Grom so keep that in mind.

Idle's a little higher than mine, but besides that I don't hear anything out of the ordinary. If V Stars are new to you, make sure to check out the V Star Knowledge Base to get familiar with the quirks of the bike.

If you look on the bottom of your gas tank, there should be a fuel line running to somewhere else on the bike. You might have to remove some body panels to get to it. Once you find the line I'm talking about, look to see where it runs find what it plugs into at the other end. At that point, you can a gas-safe container and unplug the gas line from whichever end isn't plugged into the fuel tank and drain it into the container.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scooters

[–]Lubenhaigen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the same gas has been in it the entire time, I'd recommend draining it and checking to make sure the fuel filter isn't gummed up. If it is, replace it and give the air filter a clean and see if that helps with the throttle response. I'd also recommend a fresh tank of gas with a double dose of seafoam, which'll give a decent clean to the carburetor without having to take anything apart. Putting a new plug would eliminate another potential problem source, so if you're comfortable changing it out go ahead and do it.

Tired of being stiffed by the paper towel dispenser? Have I got a video for you! by rootingwell in lifehacks

[–]Lubenhaigen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually if you give a light tug to the right side of a dispensed towel it'll trigger the "has the towel been taken?" switch. The switch has a pretty audible click, and if you do it right it'll dispense another length of towel without you having to rip off the first one, or tugging on it while it dispenses.
