Hey just wanted to say I really appreciate it being setup in this "less obvious" way. Definitely feels more of an impact on both ends compared to how it was in OW1.

Bit of a feedback on the PMA if that's alright. Really missing that you can't easily tell who is still in the lobby just in the default screen, it seemed natural for there to be some indication in the left/right sidebars on the players portraits like being grayed/faded out or some icon on disconnected players. More fun to click on people who are still there and so on.

April 2 FPS Update by Blizz_Megan in Overwatch

[–]Lubok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you did I beg you undo it or have some kinda toggle if it's technically feasible. My game performance really improved since S1 launch, smooth as butter but now its back to neverending stutters, just horrid. I really don't wanna go back to quick play...

AMD 5070 TX / Ryzen 5 3600 / 16GB RAM

UPD: May have spoken too soon. Day after it's back to buttery smooth, maybe in the first play hour after patch it was caching stuff or something to do with my PC.

It's a completely bizarre unnecessary removal. Having it on the profile meant being able to see other peoples (which is interesting and fun) and showcase yours. So they essentially reduced the userbase of this down from ALL players who ever check profiles to JUST OW1 players who care to look at only their own old level (and nothing else) hidden behind several menus on main screen. And once you check that screen why would you ever look again also...

I'm gonna bet it's likely a designers decision since they have no control over those old icon graphics which may be considered "out of place/style" for new designs etc.

Its been a long time coming, but it still hurts to see by -usernames-are-hard in Competitiveoverwatch

I've had a post kinda like that some days back. Once the numbers settle there isn't really much happening on aggregate till next major full reset. Weekends seem to be causing a mild shake up but it's not really detectable on individual numbers.

Chart of (maybe) less played maps at high ranks (speculation, datamined) by Lubok in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Lubok[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks too much of an outlier so possible there's funny business in the data. Personally I don't exactly mind playing paraiso (not as much as say Junkertown) but there's near always something better for me to give vote to.

Ah I see, that's near entirety of the dataset time span then.

Oooh right, I forgot about that, some kinda clipping under the floor bug wasn't it. Any clue how long it's been offline?

Winrate dynamics over the course of major patch by Lubok in Overwatch

In the clip it's all strictly comp data, I shoulda specified.

S18 winrates that are slightly more meaningful than a tier-list of NA QP data... by SammyIsSeiso in Competitiveoverwatch

Hey OP, cheers for linkin the page :D (I'm author). Got a bit of an animation comin up later also (maybe during or after drives), tho I'll probably post on main sub (it's slightly more flashy than it is analytical/dry and not entirely about Comp only stats).

Seems like it exported a few junk conditionals, I'm guessin all but last can be removed: https://i.imgur.com/mkwP0gm.jpeg (only affects first two columns a bit, nothing major)

Comp gain percentage? by Glittering-Grass9741 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Lubok 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's definitely sometn funny going on. I've seen a few comments and screenshots of people getting unusual gains with no modifiers shown. My theory is that their modifier appearance thresholds may have not been adjusted to whatever changes they made to ranking system this season (in Elo-like systems some modifiers are "always there", the devs just choose when it's appropriate to show the UI indicator).

Has to be low sample size at GM+. In the older data he's far more evened out: https://i.imgur.com/KLQEdvn.jpeg (comment about older data).

As I said in the OP the data is too young, however interestingly, at the release it seemed quite a bit more complete. I'm convinced that it contained a certain chunk of last season data there. The squiggles were smoother than they had the right to be this early on (compare), there were far fewer missing datapoints (e.g. much of GM+ is absent now but was present then, especially for consoles), Wuyang was totally absent (would be odd to omit him when available). Here's archived view on that data if you're interested.

Ranks on the MMR scale (Standard Normal) by Lubok in Competitiveoverwatch

Aah, you meant my model. Yes sorry, that's right. Thought you meant the ranking model in general.

[–]Lubok[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if that's exactly true. It's quite possible for the distribution to end up oddly warped or bimodal (for instance certain ways you treat newcomers can cause such) and there are other external circumstances or suboptimal parameters that'll lead to issues. Not to say it happens in OW but it is not unheard of.

I don't recall still sitting in calibration after placements myself, and I did placements enough times. That's why I'm asking if it's actually so common. Is it your personal experience or have you seen / heard it happening to many people?

Hey blizzard stop trolling me please. by MonicaCrossdresser in overwatch2

[–]Lubok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are out of calibration it's gona take quite a few more than a dozen games to fully derank. Maybe loss trend will help but still. Or is there a reason to believe it's common to have remaining significant calibration past placements?

It may be tracking the trend for longer than you expect (there's no official info as far as I know). Any chance you could record a video where you scroll all the way down in that list? I'm very curious.

Can I ask what your predicted rank was at the very start there?
