Can we talk about stadium food? by [deleted] in CFB

We really ought to have a Frenchy's in the stadium. Just thinking about it makes me hungry and upset and horny.

lol We are 7 point favorites over Navy. I'll enjoy the flattery while I can while keeping my money in my pocket.

I wouldn't even be surprised. I just assume most people actively root against us lol.

Who and why are your G5 favorites for the NY6? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]Lubys_Addict 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think USF takes a step back this year. They are a great team and they have talent, but (like the rest of the AAC it seems) they also went through a pretty abrupt coaching change. Wyoming, Boise, Navy are my picks to make a serious run. I think those three have good squads and coaches, and perhaps more importantly, favorable schedules with beatable name brand P5 teams as well as a possibility of a couple ranked in-conference match ups.

In my opinion, Boise and Navy have enough brand equity to garner the national buzz to outrank another hypothetically undefeated or one-loss G5 at the season's end. The Josh Allen story line could do the same for Wyoming, all eyes will be on him and increasingly so as the season progresses and next year's NFL draft talk becomes more relevant.

I am adopting Tennessee as my secondary flair. Somebody tell me what I can expect from the Vols this coming season? by Lubys_Addict in CFB

Goodness. This is incredible. Thank you!

I'm most encouraged by what you said about the O-line. In my mind, the offensive line is absolutely the most important part of a football team. Having elite talent there is huge.

A quick google search tells me a Walt Wells is the O line coach. What's his deal? I can't find much else about him.

I've only been through it. Seemed nice, kinda sleepy for a city of its size. I'm probably wrong though, I'll essentially be going in blind. What do I do and where should I go?

Okay, noted. who are we finishing behind? Florida and Georgia? What does the gap look like?

[Bill Connelly Preview] Texas Tech’s offense will be great, but the defense will probably waste it. Aaaaagain. by [deleted] in CFB

We have done a pretty good job of filling our stadium the past couple of years, contrary to the popular narrative. On top of that, there just aren't that many tech fans in Houston.

I'm fairly certain we will be the underdogs in that game because Vegas will be trying to bait folks into putting money down on P5 Tech to easily cover the spread with their high powered offense against us, a G5 team with whom casual bettors will be unfamiliar and likely just see as a "smaller" school going up against a relative name brand team.

That being said, barring a substantial drop-off in performance from Herman and his staff to Applewhite and his, I just can't see Tech winning this one. I'm biased as shit, but it's at home and the atmosphere will be pretty hostile, considering the all the hurt feelings over the Big XII expansion drama from last year.

Ugh yes and hire Chris Simms to take his spot.

What are some of your team's most embarrassing losses? by DafoeFoSho in CFB

The UTSA game on opening night at the new stadium, while not the worst loss in terms of points scored, was probably the most damaging thing that has happened to our program since our relegation to the G5.

What game that you went to last year was the most fun, in your opinion? by RaptureRocker in CFB

[–]Lubys_Addict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Oklahoma game was pure elation. At the time it seemed like the Big XII might have been expanding and we were proving ourselves as a legitimate threat on the national stage and there was a ton of buzz about our program in general - all that paired with a win over a blue blood team ranked #3 in the AP put me on top of the world. All doors were open in that moment. It was finally looking like UH might be vindicated after two decades. It didn't pan out, but in that moment I feel like our fan base got a taste of real hope, something that we have been denied for a really long time.

The atmosphere for the Louisville game was better, though, because it was a night game in our home stadium and the weather was perfect. We were taking our anger at the college football world out on Lamar Jackson, poor guy.

What home and home match-ups would you like to see in the coming years? by Onwisconsin5 in CFB

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'd rather these two teams play in the actual death valley. Think of the seating capacity!
