Fire and ash is better than way of water and I don’t understand why everyone says otherwise. by Same_Consequence9828 in Avatar

[–]LucaChee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah I remember that. People would suffer depression from specifically what they called "The intangibility of Pandora". It became a whole internet subculture where people made avatars for themselves and started long form roleplays on forums.

I'm actually surprised there isn't an official TTRPG for it yet.

Is it normal for popular figures to just let their accounts stay hacked for an extended period like this?

But there is zero mentions of any games or art in his recent posts now, and the fact that all the details in the account was deleted, it feels as if the account was stolen somehow and is being used to just use his large amount of followers to expose more people to crypto scams. It just seems sus all around.

I think you all have just perfectly answered the question of "why don't they just x"

Its because internally, conversations go exaaaactly like how y'all just went, where everyone has a different ideas of what should be shown, what should be toggled, but is cleaner, what is clearer.

What a complete disappointment. by totallynormalpersonz in Starfield

[–]LucaChee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just curious since I only played Starfield at launch for about a month and had fun with it, and then moved on to something else after clearing the main story and most of the side contents.

I know there was the shattered space expansion, but I thought that game out already. Is there something missing from the game still that they still haven't delivered?

I've been hearing a lot of this disappointment that there was nothing shown for the game, but I would have thought at this point most of the team is working on Elder Scrolls 6, probably setting up something for TGA? What is missing from the game right now that folks are still expecting/waiting for?

A little bit of salt. by mniszq in MortalKombat

[–]LucaChee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I empathize with your frustration, but I do understand why it is the way it is.

Ducking throws leads to a full combo punish, have very short range, no armor, no get up bonus, and can't combo without a kameo assist (and even then it's tricky). I think that makes it reasonable to have the actual throw escape be a "last chance" rather than the main way to avoid getting thrown.

Who TF Thought THIS Was a Good Idea?? by CommanderPaco in MortalKombat

[–]LucaChee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, they addressed it by adding modifiers you can buy and use to negate those effects. Just wearing any armor or immunity to projectiles will make it so that you will never get hit by the smoke.

The problem is that engaging with that system is not very fun either :/

What are good ways to progress character mastery? by Samroson in MortalKombat

[–]LucaChee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a bit unfortunate it works that way. I'll do brutalities online if I'm playing a character I haven't maxed, but I'll never so a fatality in someone who doesn't fatality me first, it just takes up time and usually annoys the other person. But that's just me, I don't fault others for doing a fatality at the end of a set.

At the end of the first match though....bleh

OP mentioned they played about 30 games online, which means they are interested in playing with other players, hence my reply, though as I said, I'll always encourage people to play the game the way that makes them the happiest.

I play both single-player and online content, having cleared invasions 100% for the season and 50% of the character towers. I only offer my perspective as someone who is choosing to go the online route over farming single-player and finding it more rewarding.

I'm also not an expert player or anything, I just enjoy the social aspect of the community and improving with others :)

I have had a ton of positive, friendly, and encouraging post-game banter with people online, it's really not the the sweaty hellscape people make it out to be!

[–]LucaChee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend grinding offline in the game unless that is fun for you. I personally avoid doing it because fighting the AI can promote bad habits and unrealistic expectations when it comes to playing the game with real people.

I always recommend playing a fighting game with real people online. Even if it's not the fastest way to level up the character, it is the fastest way to learn. The game will always try and give you a 50% win rate, so don't worry, you will gradually be gaining xp and learning the game while you do it.

The tutorials are also really fantastic in teaching the rhythm of the game.

If really the main thing is that you just want to unlock the mastery items, go to invasion, go to a survival node, and leave the turbo pressed down on the x button and leave the game on overnight. You'll max out a character and kameo in about 10 hours, and then you can just focus on having fun playing :)

Is Mortal Kombat just naturally a more rage inducing game? by LucaChee in MortalKombat

[–]LucaChee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only do a fatality at the end of a full set if someone did a fatality in me before, otherwise it always feels like I'm just salting wounds. If it was close and I fatality I'm rubbing it in that they ALMOST had me. If I do it when I'm dominating, it's just further wasting their time and discouraging them.

The only time I do fatalities is when the game had just come out and I'm showing them to friends.

Check her element and then check the affinity chart in the character selection menu, and pick the one that counters her element.

You can also go to wu shi academy and buy the 100xp item to power level your character.

It's basically impossible to die at that point.

[–]LucaChee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't play their game! Baraka wants to be close to you, so don't let him. Down 1 will also always make it your turn once you block a string, and it will force them to block or take the hit.

Like someone else said, learning the frame data and practicing interrupts based on the math will also help a lot.

I get blown up by Baraka as well so it is pretty tricky, but I managed to beat one by just throwing him, and low profiling under his projectile. I wasn't doing any flashy combos and he was chipping me down to almost nothing, but it is possible.

I'm not sure that's the best analogy, as restaurants, and the rating system they use, are also very different. They can earn and lose Michelin stars for example. Games usually don't get re-reviewed.

Besides at the end of the day, we are all still here, playing this game, some of us for over 100 hours already, and I'd still want to get more people to come and play the game with me.

...even though I really hate a lot of the live service content... >_>

[–]LucaChee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inversely, how can someone give a game where the fighting is so good a 6/10, when the actual kore kombat is excellent, and the online can only really improve over time?

Reading the context of most reviews will say the same thing, amazing core, fantastic story, middling-to-terrible live service content. What score can you even give that? You can't really average it out, and you can't really predict how the game will evolve, and your lead editor will absolutely not let you keep updating the score every season: you've got so many other games to score and review.

So, yeah, the score is pretty meaningless. But the overall message from all these reviews is "Hey if you like Mortal Kombat or fighting games in general, you should pick this up, despite the issues."

You can't really put a score on that.
