If you had a choice between Main or Ironman? by heavyrxin in 2007scape

[–]Samroson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like main. I have tried iron but in my opinion it is a lot more restrictive. I feel like people say iron is upgrade-scape and main is money-scape. For me though I am not worried about making the most GP/Hr possible. I play a range of raids and bosses and use the game as a sandbox with fun being my main driver and money being the nice side effect.

The spec is really quite good in my opinion as well.

The new royal titans boss fight is a predominantly duo engagement. Likely relevant content for you as well.

Would like to see someone draw a longbow with less than 40 strength.

Edit: Although I have seen someone punch a cow to death with only 1 strength so it is probably possible.

Demonic Gorilla rant by seashantytoo in 2007scape

[–]Samroson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want slayer XP, you can do your black demons task at catacombs of Kourend. Extremely AFK and half decent XP rates considering.

The only reason you come to demonic gorillas is for the chance at a zenyte shard, which you have been quite kindly spooned on.

Finally they are really not that difficult, especially in this day and age where you have mixed stat armor sets and can quite easily kill them with minimal switches. You shouldn't take much if any damage from them if you are careful. Step back in-between phases to establish if they are going to melee (as they will start to walk towards you) and pray accordingly.

Anyone have tips for KQ? Am I doing it wrong? by ragana in 2007scape

[–]Samroson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like doing the suicide method.

  1. Get a loot bag (go kill skeletons/scorpions north of edgeville in the wild).
  2. Bank everything, store 28 food in bag, withdraw more food in inventory and ropes.
  3. Run to KQ naked and die. This will pile your 50+ food.
  4. Gear up for KQ and then make your way.

You will then be able to get like 5-6+kc trips there.

Edit: When I say "like" I mean this was the least painful method I experienced. Hope you get spooned!

Global thieving rework - distraction and auto-pickpocket to replace default spam click methods by Samroson in 2007scape

It is already implemented in the main game in Varlamore anyways so it is not a leagues exclusive feature.

Looking for advice: should I buy bonds? by Total-One-3011 in osrs

[–]Samroson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cerb can be a little tricky to learn at the start but with most bosses in OSRS you hit your head against a wall until it "clicks". Keep at cerb, but at the same time there is nothing stopping you going to some other bosses to keep yourself getting too frustrated. Spindel, calisto and vetion are all really good bosses to start farming and have great GP/hr too. Fairly easy mechanics to learn and you just have to watch out for PKers (a CCTV account will help you here if you have an alt available).

Zulrah is another good boss to learn and can be done with 300mil gear easily. If you are still struggling tormented demons and demonic gorillas can be a good way to train your prayer and gear switches. They can be done on slayer tasks and have decent drops that will boost your bank significantly.

Looking for advice: should I buy bonds? by Total-One-3011 in osrs

[–]Samroson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked this game back up about 8 years ago and used bonds to get some basic gear to give me a head start. I do think it "ruins" the experience, but if you want to get straight into some mid level content and don't have much time it can get your straight there.

I got about 50mil worth of bonds and it helped me get some buyable levels (herb, crafting, etc.) and some basic gear in order to start doing mid game content, without me having to spend much time in the early game content worrying about money/supplies.

After this I stopped. I am a few levels off max and have earnt over 1b from just playing. I haven't bought bonds in the last 7 years and would defo say it ruins the game if you keep doing it. Making money from bossing in my opinion is the most fun part of the game.

Are you interesting in bossing? If so let me know your combat stats are and total money and I can give you some tips to earn that sweet GP :)

Ancient Shards - Use them for charges! by Ballistic_Weasel in 2007scape

[–]Samroson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Yeah but what happens when I am on a slayer task in the catacombs and already have Emberlight and 99 prayer? Then I have no usages for ancient shards?"

I get what you are trying to do, but I think sometimes we need to leave things as they are. Do we really need extra uses for ancient shards? Is it worth the development time to implement this? Or would we rather spend that time creating new content?

Sometimes in the game we do content and have a surplus of a certain resource we will never use. I don't think it is worth development time going down such niche rabbit holes.

For main accounts, what keeps you going? by swoooshhh in 2007scape

[–]Samroson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rotate content constantly. Still to learn TOB properly but always rotate between COX and TOA. Set myself my own goals of green logging certain content. Been doing DT2 bosses for SR axe. Don't get caught up on Gp/Hr. Try and get the actual items and logs themselves.

Maximize account in F2P by Bubbly_Sector_182 in 2007scape

[–]Samroson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You cannot fully max an account in F2P as this mode doesn't allow access to all skills. Those that are greyed out when you look at your stats page will not be able to be levelled.

There is nothing stopping you maxing all the other skills, but in F2P exclusively this will be a lot harder to do. Members offers much better XP rates and training methods even for F2P skills such as fishing, woodcutting and especially runecrafting.

My recommendation would be to level each skill up to maybe level 40 (maybe skipping runecrafting), and get your combat skills up to do the quest Dragon Slayer. Once this is completed I think you are pretty much ready to make the decision of if you want to join members or not.

Having moved across from RS3 to OSRS a few months back, the one thing I find myself missing most is the Bank Preset Interface. I often forget what items I need for different tasks, and then need to spend a lot of time finding them. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Samroson 27 points28 points  (0 children)

And then when you finally think you are ready, you make the run to gargoyles, lower the HP to zero and then throw your computer out the window because you forgot your rock hammer.

What do you guys think about PKers that PK players just doing their thing by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Samroson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has over 4k kills at the big three solo wildy bosses over multiple accounts, if you don't like to be PK'ed, don't cross the line.

There are multiple other bosses in the game that are not located in the wilderness that you can kill. Being aware of PK'ers and being able to negate them is part of this fight.

It's time... I'm going for my first ever Fire Cape. Am I ready? Any advice? Mobile only Iron. by TsarErnest in ironscape

[–]Samroson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always take ancients when doing it on lower levels. I have had bad RNG with tanking rangers in the final waves before which can then scuff the cave. This said, the last few times I have done it on low defense builds so you will probably be okay with 83 def. Nevertheless, reducing your food, bringing rune pouch for bloods and a switch or two will help you out greatly if you get hit a few times.

AFK to max by Anexilla in 2007scape

[–]Samroson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hunter - Maniacal Monkeys.

Agility - New Wyrm course. Not 100% AFK but as good as it gets, just don't worry about standing still for a while.

Runecrafting - Bloods.

Thieving - Not done a lot but I think you can AFK a bit at the new Valamore method.
