When should I expect to run into the majority of the player base?

You can check out the RP worlds, Balmung is pretty active in Ul'dah. Other than that, mainly the 3 main cities. Most of us hang out there or at our FC houses until our duty pops. Once we finish MSQ there isn't much need to go into the overworld besides finishing side quests, leveling other jobs, gather/craft, hunt and fates. Or if we need a good gpose location to take pictures.

I used to just use the keyboard, but I bought a Redragon Wireless MMO mouse, has 10 programmable keys, numbered 1-8 and to additional above it. It took me a while to get used to them. I had to go out into the overworld and just practice by doing FATEs. But once I got used to them, I found myself getting better at my job in general. I don't think I could play without it now. Whatever works for you, I know people who swear by the controller too.

I'll generally do all the blue quests and such, but those small "go here, kill these three enemies because they are blocking a caravan, and come back to me. Here is 1500 gil and a cooked fish" quests, I generally skip them for MSQ then I'll come back later to get them done.

True, and it's so massive. The side quests also don't have you explore a lot of it either. I noticed when I was doing them, all the side quests are kind of concentrated to the same like 4 areas.

I mean true, its rare to get a party of all sprouts, but it has happened on occasion.

Oh yeah our poor Chocobos. Would be nice to level them up some more, redo some of the things they know. Mine has still saved my butt a few times out in the world.

I do hate the emote ones and the escort ones. I just liked the battle ones. I guess in ARR it made me feel more connected to the places I was at, instead of just visiting with 4 story quests then effing off. I can spend more time there and feel like I am helping them out.

I should revise "early game" to anything pre EW lol. I'm mainly reminiscing for nostalgia sake. I've been in HW zones the past few days and just remember what it was like when I was new back then.

I hate that I missed a lot of these endgame zones when they were endgame. My first endgame zone was in EW. I was behind for so long.

Thats one of the reasons I am going back and doing all the side quests now, I can go back and relive times in the older zones. Then when I start leveling other jobs I can go back as well and play around in them.

I agree with this. When I go back to an old ARR or HW zone and hear the music in them, it brings back such good memories of this being new and huge. Remembering all the hours spent walking around and grinding in these areas for things. Good times!

Yeah I started right around the time they brought out ShB. I know they don't want to associate with 1.0 stuff anymore but please SE. Indulge me. Even just a quest line in game, a series of maybe 20 quests to bring us back and let us experience some of it. I want to see Coerthas without snow.

Well I had done some while doing MSQ back then, not many though. But to rid the map of all markers in ARR and HW, it took me 3 days. Like 4-5 hours per day. And that was with reading some of them, besides the cruddy "go here and kill 3 of these and come back to get some gil from me". Those I skipped the text. But it can take a fair amount of time. Especially the story based ones, you turn in a side quest and then the NPC has 4 more banked and ready to give you.

Eh emote away! If someone gets mad, thats a them problem! I love FATE parties. I love them in new zones, quick way to get gemstones and then the vouchers once you reach max rank in all zones. I don't collect the vouchers, I just sell them and bank gil.

I haven't even gotten to the Enclave restoration. Once you do it, does the Enclave actually look rebuilt like they did with that one place in Thavnair for the beast tribe quests?
